Tbh as far as traits go, I don't consider Fiona a pure tomboy, she's like lili where she has tendencies to do stuff that isn't normally deemed feminine but she's too flowery to be one, I think Nagisa is probably the tomboy of the game. Elise i don't view as tsundere, she's a tad too soft to be that, she's just no games all business before she starts to realize it's ok to let go and have fun.Whether it's Mila or Rachel really doesn't matter to me. As long as we actually GET at LEAST one cut girl in there, I'll be fine (heck, I'm hoping we get most if not ALL the cut girls in this year, including NiCO).
So far as Mila's concerned, to be fair, we did technically have a tomboy character in the game (since Lobelia EXPLICITLY referred to Fiona as one in that rock-climbing episode), and there's nothing against adding a different flavor of tomboy in there (just ask Momiji, Sayuri and technically Tamaki, who are three different takes on the Big Sis archetype. And that's not counting how we technically have five different Tsunderes in the game [Ayane, Nagisa, Elise, Amy [and that one was specifically meant to be written as one, BTW] and Reika]). As far as Mila's story, what's to say we can't have her, say, going to the island and trying to participate in the festival with emphasis on the strength part in addition to beauty. That would be a twist to the norm (as even Hitomi was implied to place some value on the beauty requirements even if she wasn't quite sure how to reach that threshold). Oh, and then discovering Tina's there as well.
And as far as outfits are concerned, I think they can figure something out for her. Maybe something sporty similar to Reika.
That said, I definitely agree Rachel ought to take precedence this year, mostly because of the whole Year of Ninja thing they are doing (plus, it WOULD make a good promotion of the upcoming Ninja Gaiden games either way).
Reika I don't view as a tsundere either, she's just bitterly cold because of her inadequacies regarding her swimming slump and she projects that slight inferiority on others because of it, but the fact that she does eventually apologize for it but seems to keep the same disposition just shows me she's used to being praised and is naturally confident so when she feels not up to par, she becomes icy but not as frigid as Nagisa or ayane.
I think for an OG myself, they can have Lisa who decides to partake in the fests for nostalgia since she was the OG new girl of XBV and she's played volleyball in high school so she's most balanced. Rachel could be there since she found Ayane and Momiji there and she decides to stay to test out her prowess in something other than fighting, and Mila I can see for the reason you said.
Idk about nico since idk how'd they downgrade her look to fit the 2015-2017 era visuals, and on top of that I can't see any reason for her to be on the island and I can't see her really at all opening up to the owner low how the other girls do since Nico isnt really all that approachable or nice by nature. Rachel i can't really see either since she's naturally a more hardened person but maybe she can play into the more dominant role they have Elise try to do even tho imo Elise doesn't really do it that well, but maybe it's to make her more likable since she's soft compared to other similar troped girls
