well you can try out this battle simulator here http://pokemonshowdown.com/ if you want to get used to playing competitively.

its free to play online, theres a match making system so you can choose the tier you want to play, and the team-builder allows you choose the pokes you want to use and customize them the way you want. There are many different server, but if you just want to play fast I would recommend using the main server. There many different chatrooms within the server that you can join if you have a question about a tier or pokemon in gereral.

Pretty much most of the tiers use Smogon rules, but you can still look up VGC if you want

(in which the moves "Stealth Rocks" and "Rapid Spin" were practically mandatory).
They still are xD
I usually tend to favor Pokémon that consist of having large move pools and hit rather hard (either in the attack or special attack department).
You get a Mewtwo in X/Y so that should cover sp attack.

I know how to play competitively but I don't do it because it makes me anxious.

Huge fan of Pokemon. When I get Smash Bros., I'll be playing Greninja (& Fox). There's quite a bit of Pokemon that I'm a fan of. Charizard, Blastoise, Infernape, Greninja, Typolosion, Pikachu, Articuno & Feraligatr to name a few.

First, Second and Third are my favorites so I'm happy to see a new remake of Ruby and Sapphire. Now that I have a 3DS I need to get X/Y.

Also, a must listen for Pokemon fans;

X/Y are really good. Seeing all the pokemon as 3D models rather than sprites for the first time is incredible.

GTS is unfortunately still a cesspool from black/white but you can get some good trades here and there, it's how I filled out my whole pokedex. Most people will put up something like a lv 3 Caterpie for a lv 100 Mewtwo and be bold enough to add a comment "shiny if you can," or event pokemon like Mew that the game doesn't let you trade. Some people ask for pokemon that aren't even possible at the level they request.

Video is from today when Nintendo had their e3 stuff, skip to 0:40. Release date is November 21st for JP and NA, November 28th for EU. Mega Swampert and Sceptile confirmed, Mega Groudon and Kyogre confirmed, and it was discovered a while ago that Latios and Latias will have mega transformations. Here's the new map artwork, shows the Hoenn map is largely the same-

Kept forgetting to post news here.

-Right now gamestop is holding an event giving out shiny Gengars with gengarites attached (until the 26th). Go into a gamestop store and ask for a card and they'll give you one; it has a code on the back as well as directions. Free, you don't need to buy anything.

-Right now mystery gift is distributing super XL Pumpkaboos (until the 31st) via internet

-I heard gamestop is going to have a Diancie event distributing them starting on the 27th

Lots of ORAS news.

-They're going to distribute demo codes to people in the trainer club in north america via the latest newsletter on the 20th. Sign up (it's free) and opt to receive emails by then and you'll get one. After you get it you can just opt out of them if you want. Items you pick up in the demo will transfer to the full game and I think you can get a mega stone early for playing it.

-Audino, Pidgeot, Glalie, Diancie, Slowbro, Beedrill, Sableye, Sharpedo, Gallade, Altaria, Metagross, Camerupt, Steelix, Salamance, Sceptile, Swampert, Latios, Latias, Rayquaza, Kyogre, and Groudon are all getting mega evolutions. That's what's been announced so far and I'm probably missing some

-There have been a ton of magazine scans and other assorted news so I'll just link to where I find most stuff about the upcoming games: http://pokemon-global-academy.tumblr.com/tagged/ORASnews

It looks like the Mega you get for your demo depends on your region. Japan(?) got Mega Steelix while Europe and Korea (?) got Mega Glalie

I dunno how I feel about Mega Audino. The design is pretty but why is it a mega evolution rather than an actual evolution? :/ Forgot to put Mega Steelix in my list

Truth be told, I've been getting quite fed up with Mega evolutions. I stopped caring the moment they showed Slowbro. But it all changed when Mega Rayquaza was revealed :D

I have some info regarding the demos:
http://www.serebii.net/omegarubyalphasapphire/demo.shtml

Here's an interview with the dev team:
http://www.gonintendo.com/s/239469-...mon-omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire-video-interview

With how the demos work, I'll have to find a way to beat the system. Nintendo doesn't show any support for South East Asia at all. :(
