Looks like there's some new activity on TN's twitter. As always Goggle sucks at translating but as you would probably expect Shimbori discusses the new video and talks a little bit about Christie, Bayman and the new stage. He even mentions that he will explain how Bayman got his scar in the story, interesting. I would post the Google translation but I'd rather let a proper translation be posted to avoid cluster.

Nothing too interesting. It mentions DOA5's story mode will be a gunzougeki. I guess the closest English equivalent to that would be ensemble. So the characters should get equal importance in the story.

Apparently we'll find out the meaning behind Bayman's new scar, and it talks about the art director being in love with Christie or something. I really have no idea what he's talking about regarding his kiai lol Also new interview in Famitsu. (Probably won't get posted online.)

What's a gunzougeki?

You've probably seen Pulp Fiction, it's kind of like that. Each character plays a small role in the big picture. I don't remember MK9 too well but I think it had this kind of plot too

Oooh alright, that's interesting. Instead of each character(s) having their own separate story, they all contribute to the major plot. I like the sound of that.

Where's Ninja Gaijin when you need him? Anyway, here's my attempt at translating the Google Translation:

Shimbori via Twitter said:

"We've released a video of Christie and also Bayman to the official website. Have you seen it yet? http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/movie.html

Christie's beauty shines. She's a favorite of the art director, so maybe his team has also been fired up?

Bayman's taken off his beret and his face is scratched. You'll find out about his scar in the story mode.

The DOA5 story mode theme is "group portrait play." Many characters will be crossing paths in "Hot Zone," the battlefield stage we revealed.

I'd also like to touch on the stage more when we have some time but please excuse me because I've run out of time."

The "group portrait play" thing is poorly translated, in fact, the entirety of this is poorly translated but that one piece is horribly so. "Group portrait play" kind of refers to a single big play, like the kind you would audition for in high school, involving all of the characters. I hope I explained that clearly enough.

Later, someone other than Shimbori tweeted the following:
本日発売の「ファミ通Xbox360」に、私と新堀ディレクターのDEAD OR ALIVE 5のインタビューが掲載されています。記者の方もDOAを深く知っている方だったので・・・色々他で話していない事も掲載されていますよ。

ファミ通Xbox360は「本日」ではなく・・・「明日」発売でした!
"In the 'Famitsu Xbox 360' released today, there's an interview with myself and director Shimbori about Dead or Alive 5. You'll find that it doesn't go too in depth as you all know much more about DOA than the press.

That 'Famitsu Xbox 360' releases tomorrow, not today!"

Im not hip to other fighters, but I take the "group portrait play" as DOA Dimensions style story mode. Right? Not as in, the comprehensive story but the way it gives you people to play with, to fit the story line. I liked that.

Interesting.

I can totally picture Christie asking what Victor Donovan looks like...

Of course the official translations went up almost immediately after I had posted mine, just my luck, haha.

[D-YS] Did you catch the new footage of Christie and Bayman? If not, check it out here: http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/movie.html

[D-YS] We've really polished Christie. Our Art Director likes her, so I think there's a reason he worked hard on her.

[D-YS] And then there's the beret-less Bayman. The story will reveal what's up with the scar on his face.

[D-YS] We're using a hyperlink cinema style for the story. Lots of characters will cross through this Hot Zone stage.

[D-YS] I'll talk a little more about the stage when I have more time.

[D-YS] So that's it for now!

Christie looks very good to me, that's the first thing I recognized when I saw her, I was like, "Damn, they went in with her." Very appealing she is to me now, I don't really like the costume but her facial features are nice. I wonder if the other charcter(s) will get "polished" up to par like Christie?

The beret better return, BINGO!

grape that's why those machine translations sucks. wtf is a group portrait play? moreover, wtf is a hyperlink cinema? ;p their official translator also left out the kiai comment, which btw mentions nothing about the AD's "team" - that's something google completely made up lol

edit: hmm it's an actual thing!

The guy knows his movie jargon :D I guess the basic idea is still the same though, a bunch of characters with intertwining stories (probably no more Jann lee knocking out dinosaurs). In fact pulp fiction is in the list of examples

The best example was already stated: Dead or Alive Dimensions. Not sure why Pulp Fiction keeps coming up when this exact story telling method was already used in this series.
