I have no experience with texture maps though, am I in over my head or can I just directly apply my drawing skill? If there's a good texture tutorial let me know

It'll be easiest to start with color alterations. For this example, you'll be working with multiple textures. You would have to color the body texture separately which also has different surface properties than the clothing which may not match. Start with the colors for now, but a more accurate portrayal will be possible once containers are accessible and people can modify surface properties.

Ah yeah that was one of my concerns... so you can't even edit speculars yet? Well here's hoping the encryption gets cracked. I know PS3 is STILL uncracked :(

Specular textures can be altered, so you can get some stuff really close, BUT each costume also has its own surface properties. Different mesh pieces may use different values. Body & clothing are almost always different, so even with editing the texture one may/may not be as shiny as the other.

Hey enforcer you seem to know a lot about this kind of stuff. Do you know how I would go about making say Hayabusa's mask transparent so that his face shows if thats possible? I read to make the texture in a new alpha channel in photoshop but all that did was remove all the fine details and make the mask pitch black lol.

Changing the alpha layer will only work if it's a mesh piece that already has transparency. Costumes have flags for that kind of stuff, so for now the mask probably won't work. For example: Any fish net textures, mummy ribbons, etc would disappear if the alpha layer is manipulated.

Also, how do you have your download setup? Just texture files? If so I'll add it to the resources page as a NG II costume.

ah okay thanks! How can I remove mummy ribbons? Hayabusa has one!

The download has the original DDS/PSD files and the edited PSD/DDS files.

Cool, already added.

Some of his body ones may not have transparency, but any dangling ribbons might. The alpha layer should be grayscale. I think black represents completely transparent areas. Areas to hide should be made the same color as those parents already hidden.
