Again, I feel as if the post was taken far too seriously... I've generally seen the same people place in tournaments since DOA2U/DOA3 with their same characters; it was merely a joke on that, nothing else. Doesn't matter who you use, as long as you get results.
I don't think it discredits someone if they found a way to coast to the top simply because a character has more/better tools than the rest of the cast; the option remains for anyone to use that character, but they chose not to. It's a tale as old as fighting games...

You use the word "coast" which i think says it all. Idealistic as it may sound, in a
game there is more to winning than winning. I can understand the money argument but iono, I have 8 years of grad school and work for cash, I play and watch DOA for the competition and the easy way diminishes impressiveness. But its all opinion I guess.
It doesn't
discredit it by any means for the exact same reasons you gave. But it isn't as difficult and thus not as impressive as if the opposite were to occur. I mean seeing master take a supposed mid tier character as high as he did, now that was FUN and interesting to watch, same thing seeing bayman vs christi. Shit was wild and that is what I will remember from the tourny, not alpha clone matches and rachel everywhere.
Just my opinion, don't mean to be hurting anyones butt.
