What do you want for NG4?

Yeah. They really should put him in NG now that Ayane and Kasumi are both playable in the games. :/

If Hayate is playable in NG4 he should get a Ein costume too. That would be so awesome! XD

I am not opposed to adding Hayate necessarily, but I think Team Ninja would need to be cautious. Ninja Gaiden should not just be an action DOA game----it is Ryu's game and story. Ryu needs to be the central focus and the more characters you add the greater the potential for watering that focus down. I think this gets particularly tricky with adding Hayate---another male ninja character who would be harder to make distinctly different from Ryu (as compared to the girls which are obviously distinct).

So, it would need to be done carefully. I think other characters should continue to only be playable in chapter challenge and trials.

My personal preference would be for a game with a greater emphasis on Momiji, Jo Hayabusa, Muramasa, Irene as the main secondary characters since they are more part of the NG narrative and story.

Hayate is not easily confused with Ryu any more than Triple H would be easily confused with Dwayne Johnson.

I still advocate that if other characters appear in NG4, they should not be playable in the campaign mode, only Chapter Challenge, Mission Modes, co-op, etc.

I partially share Kensei's sentiment.
I'm not against additional characters, but they need to be cautious.
If anything, if they really want to add new characters, they need to do it with a really well planned game design ideas in their mind, a character that is very suited to be there and is perfectly coherent and integrated with the rest of the game.
Something that plays differently and adds SOMETHING to the game, instead than just a reskin of Hayabusa.
Because I feel that at the end of the day that's what bonus characters were in NG3RE.

I don't think Momiji can actually wield a true Dragon Sword, as Ryu is referred to as the last in the lineage. But you can correct me if I'm wrong.

for some reason some people seem real insistent on going back to her DS version where she fought just like her master and was basically just a skin.

I believe she can wield the DS just fine, however the TDS is another story. It'd tear her apart most likely.

I think I finally made up my mind on what I want from NG4.
Which is totally not what's gonna happen but hey, one man can dream, no?

  • Story will be set in 3 arcs. 2 big ones and a third smaller one
  • There are going to be 2 main characters: Hayabusa and Hayate. Each has his own arc. They intertwine but overall just offer different points of view on the same events. They're gonna be set in different levels with some levels in common. The levels in common will usually have areas exclusive to each of them, and different monsters/placements. In the final arc the two stories finally converge and you are able to choose whomever and then finish the game. Those levels could even become playable online in cooperative two players mode.
  • The two ninjas will have VERY different styles. They won't be a reskin of each other with different models/animations but the same substance underneath. They will play completely differently and interact with environments and stages in a completely different way. Think of Alucard and Richter in SotN, or the two characters of Onimusha 3, or Virgil/Dante, or the characters in Sonic Adventure and so on
  • One character will be more NG2 style (action action action, slightly mashy, regen health after fight etc), one will be more NG1 style (slower, strategy, you can avoid all hits etc). One will have special ninja dashes, one will have double jump and so on. I don't care who is who, all that's important is that they play really differently, weapons and combos included.
  • There will be an inventory but items inside and their use will vary according to the characters, to synergyze with their different playstyle.
  • Once you've completed the game you get the chance to do special survival/time trials on all the zones/stages with any character.
  • In the two main arcs, the monsters will be overall different, to be a better opponent against each of the characters' strenghts and weaknesses
  • Aside from DLCs weapons would be Katana, Dual Katana, Great Sword, Nunchaku for Hayabusa. While for Hayate we would get Bare Handed (something in common with the claws from NG2/3, something in common to his DoA moveset), Bow (yes, Bow main weapon. It would be a very hard bow with blades up and down and he would melee combo with it and use it to finish combos or special attacks with arrows at long distance), Tonfas and the mugentenshin sacred wakizashi katana (the one stolen by Kasumi in the first game)
  • Let me add further emphasys on the fact they will really play differently and explore levels differently. One character would have a counter system, the other could have a parry system and so on. Different subweapons too. Say shurikens for Ryu and windmill shur for Hayate for example, and so on
  • There would be some single stages and during the main 2 arcs you will have to follow an overall straightforward linear progression with some degree of freedom to backtrack, but not too much. Once you reach the final act you'll be able to reexplore all of the levels, kinda like a metroidvania or the original NG
  • There will be secrets and collectibles and some attention to exploration and a good integration with level design. Won't be mandatory, but it will be there for those who like to explore.

Overall the game will be a mixture of the pros and cons of NG1 and NG2 with several new things and will just pretend that NG3 never existed >____>

That sounds alot like Devil May Cry 4...

I'm fine with Hayate being playable but i don't think anyone should take half of NG let alone Hayate who although cool is as dull as the rest of the ninjas. IF we were to do this method id replace Hayate with Ayane because although she's a bitch is easily one of the most interesting character in DOA or NG.

Hey guys I posted my NG4 idea to Team Ninja's official NG facebook page and it looks like they liked it but most people don't like the idea of kasumi and ryu getting together lol
