I don't know how you feel about the DOA5U soundtrack, but I feel it lacks in tracks. Even with the added music library, we still have a lot of great missing tracks. My favorite tracks come from this game, and @Awesmic has made it a priority to bring the OST to you with tracks extended to 30 minutes.

Most of the winning designs are costumes that you would expect, but there are a few surprises in the "Top 10." I thought every character was going to automatically place, but I'm not sure how the DLC will actually be released since another player's pajama outfit was recently released from the last contest.

Today, Big E was one of the first to mention that Gehaktbal has been successfully registered to the DOA5U TFC 2014 tournament! The Lord of the Netherlands will compete in the biggest DOA5 tournament known to mankind, and this is your chance to play him. Now is the time to register for TFC. Do not miss out on this epic international event!

"Thanks to a very supportive community Gehaktbal's campaign for TFC was a success! I will get with him to discuss everything! We will now most likely have USA's best Japan's best and Europe's best at the FALL CLASSIC!"

Also remember to keep Hajin Shinobi in your sights as he is a West Coast player hoping to be sponsored by the community as well.

Can't wait to see what other surprises will emerge before, and during TFC. Congrats once again, community!

Hajin is a player that has earned his stripes within this community by not only learning the ropes of one of the game’s most technical characters and sharing all of his findings, but he has been building a great offline scene with some other great players in California (West coast needs this).

You can give back to this informative player by helping Hajin get to TFC. In this interview he speaks up on what he intends to do at TFC, talks about the growing offline scene, and of course he offers some advice concerning Ayane.

DOAN: How do you feel about DOA5 in its offline state?

Hajin: I think the offline tournament scene is actually pretty good. We've had a lot of tournaments in DOA5U that have been pretty successful (a few hit or misses but it happens). Including tournament locals we've had often before here in California.

The offline scene as itself, is getting a bit better. I’ve been noticing more players have been getting into DOA5U, and others have been getting together...

This upcoming Saturday the world's most prestigious fighting game tournament, the Evolution championship series, is taking place once again in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Evolution (EVO for short) is the largest fighting game tournament in the world. The event brings thousands of fans & competitors together for the sole purpose of enjoying the fighting game genre.

This is where DOA steps in and the community steps up. For the first time in nearly a decade, a tournament for Dead or Alive will be taking place at EVO. Although DOA is not apart of the main EVO lineup, there is a side-tournament being held inside EVO's tournament hall in the 'Bring Your Own Console' area. The purpose of this event is to make our presence as DOA players known at the biggest event of the year for the fighting game community (FGC). The underlying purpose of this event is to make a...

Community Gehaktbal Interview: "Lord of the Netherlands"

Gehaktbal is known for winning, he’s known for being the best in Europe, and he’s also known for his incredible Jann Lee and taking Sweet Revenge to his limits. How would he fare at the biggest DOA event of the year, TFC? The decorated European player and I talk tournaments, love, and his current thoughts on Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate.

International play is now inevitable to this year’s TFC with the news of Tomoyuki Inui in attendance, and you can help Gehaktbal live his dream by donating to the cause of international play.

DOAN: So, getting right into it, the big question most of us have is probably… how are you so good, and who do you train with offline?

Gehaktbal: Since DOA4 was my first DOA, it's safe to assume I did all my ''DOA-homework'' in this version, and yes, I did. I started out as a scrub, but I liked the game very much. Online, I encountered a few Dutch players who were known as 'the best players of The...

The next big European tournament is Stun Academy 2, and @K4rma has a few announcements pertaining to this big tournament:

"As the next Republic of Fighters will take place in the next several months, the French tournament organizers decided to implement a new DOA-only tournament to support the offline scene: The Stun Academy # 2."

"The concept is very simple: one full day of competition among European players in the center of Paris, with a solo tournament, a team tournament, but also lots of show matches and free play. The tournament will be played in Bo5, with round robin pools in Bo3. We’re expecting the best French (@Ky Dragon, @Alucardo…) and European players (@Gehaktbal should be here to defend his title). I hope we’ll see more players from Italy, Germany and UK this time."

Community Help Send Gehaktbal to TFC

It wasn't long ago that Sweet Revenge was in Paris having epic bouts with this talented, overseas player and it comes as no surprise that Gehaktbal now has his eyes set on what could be one of the most incredible DOA tournaments of all time - TFC 2014.

But he needs help from the community to make this dream possible, much like Sweet Revenge did not so long ago. This should be seen as an opportunity for the community to be generous and also expands on our idea of international play.

"Gehaktbal proved against me (Sweet Revenge) that he has what it takes to hang with the best American players in existence. Now's the time to help his dream come to fruition. He only needs 400 Euros so that him and his girlfriend (not a part of the campaign) can make the trip."

(2025 NEWS ARCHIVE UPDATE) Even though this isn't the Tengu we expected, Nyo has gained considerable popularity since her initial release over one decade ago. She's famous for her dominant aura and her totally unique gameplay that is similar to the original Tengu who is a DOA2 main boss and returned as a secret character within DOA4 & DOAD.

Emmanuel Rodriguez, known as Master within the community is hosting 'DOA in Dallas' 10, June 7th. The longest running DOA tournament will be located at the anime convention - AKON, like it has for several years. Today, Manny is going to explain his vision for this tournament, and perhaps some future plans among other DOA related things.

DOAN: Master, you have been on quite the DOA hiatus, the community has been wondering what you have been up to. Have you thought of possibly quitting Dead or Alive, or are you just taking a break?

Master: I have been a little busy with other things recently. Work, YouTube videos, bead making and other small projects for this year, but I still do what I can to squeeze in some DOA Training for the fans. They keep me going and I’ve had a lot of Hayabusa support as of recent saying that they want to see the Super NINJA in action with...

Like that sensational headline? No? That's what you get when two continents and several countries fail to produce a player capable of stopping the rampage of Matt "SweetRevenge" Kieffer. We're running out of clever ways to tell the guy "Congratulations!" and it's completely your fault. Despite some incredible competition, particularly from second-place winner Gehaktbal, SR has now taken his fifth straight tournament victory and only appears to be gaining momentum. Before we get into some upcoming chances to give the FSD staff a chance to put some different names up there, check out the results below, complete with the Finals sets:

More competitive play courtesy of Team NINJA's Official Tournament in Japan. Some of the videos are posted here, but the full list can be found in our tournament media section.

In this tournament, we see great competition, character diversity and a completely different style that is worth studying. This tournament was our first example of international play for Ultimate to my understanding, and it featured FSD owner, Matt Ponton and Europe's Emperor Cow, DOA's most recognized tutorial contributor.

Congrats to all competitors at the Official Tournament for the classy sportsmanship and getting together as a big family. Let's promote and push more tournament play for TFC!

I hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day! Moving on... TFC is coming and will be here before you know it, and the main question to the community is "are you going?"

TFC seems to be WrestleMania for our DOA tournaments and not only is there a particular road path you can take to get there, but the Top 6 payout is $8,000. On top of that you get to witness intense matches, and a huge variety of the best competitors doing what they do.

Stay tuned for future information and be prepared for registration!

ECT 6 was a tournament of many surprises, Marie Rose and most importantly, solid competition. We got to enjoy optimistic commentary from Sly Bass and the return of XcaliburBladeZ. The entire stream from Team Sp00ky was recorded by Sorwah, and the rest of the matches I believe were captured by Sly Bass via his capture card, so let's give a nice pat to his back on that one.

This tournament was streamed on the homepage of our site and a tournament chat was also hosted for those like me who enjoy speaking to the community and not insipid stream monsters. This is hopefully going to be a regular ordeal. Look forward to streaming tournaments at Free Step Dodge!

UPDATED 1/2/2016: I've updated some information in this article about current costs for the site. If you can spare a few bucks and enjoy coming here definitely do so. The site is not in any danger but it's another way of supporting your community! Getting some cool new abilities on the site isn't a bad way to start the New Year, right?

Updated article follows:

As some of you may have noticed, there has been a Donate button hanging out on the right side of the index and front page for a while now. Judging by responses to a recent status update I posted, though, a large majority of you have no idea the site even accepts donations. This post is going to break down what the feature is for, what the site does with the donations, and what donating does for you. Feel free to also offer suggestions in the comments below!

Now to start with, let's talk about actual costs for the site. This site is funded 100% by @Mr. Wah and donations from forum users...

From the little I've heard and saw about Crossworlds it might be All-Stars Racing type of fun, if it'll be just as good in terms of gameplay then I'll be very tempted to get it asap.
