Im sure Fighting Vipers came out way before DOA2 >_> and that was on the SEGA AM2 hardware no less....funny how that is...so Walls were something that around....

Im not sure when VF Jeffery got his air throw but he has one  so idk....i'll check more into that later...

Edit: Jeffery didn't get it until VF5~
Geese actually has a ground throw too so that dates back to Fatal Fury Special....way before DOA1. But VF3 had true ground throws(Aoi/Wolf/Jeffery)....still beating DOA3 to the punch.

@ Work so let me say I meant 3D fighters, so yeah forgot about Fighting Vipers.

DOA++ had the first tag feature in 3D

VF3 Idk cuz I wasn't into VF3 (dodge button was dumb) so maybe your right there cuz I don't have much experience with it . . . . didn't Leon have a ground throw in DOA2?! OH RIKUTO!!!!

And FYI not trying to be argumentative, just responding to the post about DOA having innovations.

Off topic sorta, didn't Xmen: COTA predate MK3? Cuz that would be the first time for multi tiered stages.

I would hope that they would keep her old stance. In the trailer it just appears that her :8::8: and :2::2: give the stance animation but she doesn't appear to stay in said stance. Like when she does her :8::8: initially, you can see her standing back up and returning to normal before she does :2::2: and :P:.

You guys are welcome to continue to the other discussion you were having, I would just recommend creating a separate thread for it. I can move the appropriate posts there as well if you'd like.

Gotta admit though, it would be pretty cool if she could transition into her snake stance from the sidestepping
:8::8::2_: or :2::2_: , although if you're not careful you might transition unintentionally. Just an idea :p

Trust meh, it'll come in due time, DOA may not be "THAT" in-depth fighter, but they never fail to innovate. And um, this new "Fighting Entertainment" their going with that kicks all other fighting game Stages in the anal is going to get copied some day in some way...DriftSlave^_^

Didn't ground bounce come from DOA? I see them in Tekken, starting at T6.

That would be cool "DOA Innovations" or something.

DOA4 first. Can't think of any other game and I think DOA2U was when they were experimenting with the ceiling bounce.

If they insist on using :2: (:8:) :F+P+K: to sidestep (and its usefulness improved by the final build), you could just tap the direction a second time to confirm a second sidestep (in this case the stance version) to get behind the opponent, provided the opponent's move is linear and slow enough. It'd be an option from the usual BT throw. This would give her some individuality and an edge over most other sidesteps, which could make up for her low damage output and issues with heavier characters.

I mean if you wana go there then shit it didn't do much to Kingdom Hearts either  but for NG3 and the developers who made said game, haven't grasped the concept of making QTE intuitive rather then a hindrance on the player. This could effect DOA5...I mean I don't hate cliffhanger but if there is more QTE events in this game besides that, i think there is a problem....

Edit: what made NG3 bad was the fact they overused QTE, more then half the actions Ryu did in that game was a form of QTE, unlike Bayonetta or GOW series....

I agree. NG3's flow of combat was completely obliterated (pun intended) from profuse QTEs. Trust me. I was highly disappointed. I don't need you holding my hand the whole gotdamn game. Every boss fight wasn't even a real victory, but a cutscene.
I took the Collector's Edition back for a refund only about 10hrs after launch the same day.

But in DOA5, it seems this QTE is okay. The animations are pretty sweet. I can even go as far to consider it just a step up from previous dangerzones, like the 'infinite cliffs' stage on DOA3. You interact instead of just watch.

It may be just a waver or a stamp so that Hayashi won't further put his filthy hands on the game.
[he scarred me with NG3, so yes his hands are f*ckin' filthy!!]

I definitely would like this for her. It'd make her a much more viable character.

Nice trailer.

I like the :3::K: forward tank roll. Allan, remember that 1) :3::K: puts you in sit-down stun, which is not only a long stun but one that you can't hold immediately out of, 2) You can't throw while in critical state. So unless you some how magically can throw Bayman's tank wheel while in critical state I don't see how you can throw it on reaction.

Hopefully his FTW (Forward Tank Roll is For The Win ;)) has the following properties outside of that throw that was shown in the trailer: (1) evades highs and some mids like Tina's 3.1 roll, (2) retains its mid punch launcher that comes out of it, and (3) provides a ground throw opportunity. Then, yes, I approve of such a move. :D

Fuck these hoes, I want to see Lei fang and Tina...and Tina better look good like Christie, and she better be kick ass like Bayman! Oh, and for that Side discussion, bounce combos were 1st in doa1 as well as techrolling.

I wonder will the forward tankroll roll over wake up kicks like tina's?

Maybe it was just me but the animations seemed to be a bit more stiff then usual.

I think I know what you mean.

That comes from the models being more realistic -- not just in looks, but in animation as well.
If you study how the models are animated in some previous installments, you'll notice a number of kicks and punches that were humanly impossible at the angle the joints were allowed to bend. If you examine close, the movements were exaggerated, it seems, to give a sense of stress and build up on a move. One example would be Kasumi's :K::K::K: string.

All of that is gone. Its just more realistic movements now, where the character model doesn't bend or break weirdly at joints like an action figure.

So what you're telling me is that Tina needs a scar over her nose? :D
