I was rather confused with how the different character scenes unlocked but after a while I got used to it. I can see why everyone is so disappointed with the story...
Overall, it's clear TN didn't want to focus on the story of the game to focus on gameplay (a good decision so far as far as I'm concerned) and its clear they wanted the encyclopedia and trivia entries to make up for the lack of story.
-It seems like a lot of stories got cut off before fully concluding like Tina's run for governor (I figured they would bring up that she would be too young to run) and Kokoro's search for her own mother.
-With the exception of Honoka, it seems like every other girl added to DOA5 after the base release were just forced into the story. Nyotengu's role in particular seemed pointless.
-Given how popular she's become, I'm surprised Marie had very little to do in the story, she could have been cut and nothing different would have changed (I'm actually glad for this since I'm tired of the constant marketing for her).
-It's nice to see Lisa and CHristie have their own playable moments as well particularly Christe since having her win some fights establishes her as a threat. Would have been nice for them to explain how Lisa survived the end of DOA5 though.
-NiCO got more focus than I expected. The story did a good job of making her interesting. More so than Diego (did he even win the tournament since he collapsed after beating Jann?)
-The trick of blackeing the skyboxes of some stages to make it look like it was night time was really lazy.
-The twist of Rig having a split personality to explain his evil moments in the previous game was a nice twist since it set him up as a sort of anti-villain who I want to see become a good guy.
-The "reveal" that Honoka is Ayane's sister was rather predictable, did anyone even expect anything else? TN must think they were being very clever with that twist but I'm sure all of us figured that out from the start. I would like them to explain why she and Marie look the same though...
-I was a bit disappointed with the lack of a Phase 4 story; they set her up as some kind of unique, tragic character who is forced to fight the good guys by her masters then they just turn her into an army of redshirts who keep getting killed?
-I'm surprised by how little a role Ryu played in the story but at least he didnt lose a fight meaning he is still largely unbeaten in-universe. I imagine if they made him play a bigger role, he could solve everything instantly.
