But why don't they like guaranteed damage? What makes this in DOA different from the others? Isn't that how they play the other fighting games, pro level VF and Tekken live on guaranteed stuff, and not just that but given the holds in the game DOA is a game that has the least guaranteed stuff.

It seems that the answer is in the question. Other fighting games are also 2D, or have air blocking, or fireballs, etc.

Also, think about how most throws in VF and Tekken are breakable for no damage, and people don't seem to object.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. If you're trying to compare throws to holds, that's...something.

Word of another patch coming came way before anyone got wind of this summit. Considering the actions being taken in aspect to the game's balance, would this mean we would have to wait for the results of this summit, and whatever actions they'll be taking to further improve the game in order to get a patch to improve the online playability?

I understand balance is very important and they may not want to spend a bunch of money constantly patching the game, but where as balance/game improvement is something I would like to come soon, online playability is something I want to come now, and something I think should be prioritized. A patch to improve the netcode and bring this game up to the competitive standards of SC5, FS and TTT2 needs to come asap.

Once the majority of the community can actually play the game on a competitive level, then we can worry about changes to competitive gameplay.

The netcode probably can't be optimized much further, if at all under p2p. For any kind of performance boost now it would need dedicated servers to optimize the connection, and a complete re-write of the netcode from the ground up. Thats not a cheap investment and it would cost them money every single month to maintain those servers. Namco is willing to do that. Koei is a little more... "careful with their money".

Yeah unfortunately the netcode wont ever be as close to other games because of the p2p thing... Still though i dont understand why the game changes so much online... I literally havent throw punished a block string once without getting hit for high counter strike dmg... (thank god at least you can punish whiff holds)
