DOA6 Graphics Thread

I mean, back when I was in middle-school high-school-through-college, there was always this bizarre phenomenon where people actually looked different. Like, they didn't all have the exact same facial structure and complexion. Bizarre, I know, but it would be cool to see TN acknowledge that.

Oh wait, they can, and did.

I'm not sure how much of the far back machine between Ni-Oh, DOA5 and the past DOAs you actually went to.

Not disagreeing with the assessment but...

I don't know if it's due to the final touch ups TN were talking about or whether it's due to being on PC but DOA6 is looking really good. Maybe consoles can have these upgrades too? Just don't have the console versions lag too far behind please.
Nope, only on PC LOL ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ )
I don’t have a problem with her arms but she looks like she was just crying before this pic was taken
The absence of Akira got her emotional. Poor thing. :/

Yeah I agree the graphics are coming along nicely. Also I think PS4 could handle the graphics. For example, The Last Of Us Part 2 graphics and animation are fantastic. So I don’t see how it can’t handle DOA6.

Isn't this a different Tina hairstyle?

Normally the hair strands aren't curling outwards so much. The hair also seems a tad longer than what they usually look like.

Edit: Wrong thread, this was supposed to go in the hair thread. Oh, well...

A new hairstyle? I thought it was a collision error that made the back strands of the hair stay up like they were in the shoulders lol.

I have to laugh tho, it looks so clownish

This looks great but are the characters on the select screen and menu screen pre rendered (Is that the right term?)? It looks a bit too good to be real.
I don’t think so. When playing the beta you could notice the “3d model being rendered live” quality that you can’t notice on prerendered videos. I don’t know how to explain it, but there’s a pretty notorious difference between prerendered and live that the eye can tell the difference of. That’s a video so you can’t really notice it, but when playing the game by yourself you’ll see what I mean.

No, they are real time graphics, pre rendered would be some sort of video playing once you select a costume. That would actually be a lot more taxing than real time graphics, and with all the different costumes and different customization parts gigabytes of data would be wasted on just those hundreds of videos.
The rendering of the characters might look a bit nicer on the character/costume select screen, because the game is able to put more recources into just rendering it nicely. No other characters or backgrounds to take care of, just that one character and its animation.

I don't think it is tbh, the models don't look any different from if you would zoom in on them after a win pose. The resolution however seems crisper and more detailed but I think that's because on the character select all that's really being shown is the character select UI and the character models which they load up.

In an actual match they have to render the stage and environment at the same time as well as the two characters on screen during and after a match so that's probably why they seem alot more detailed up close, since that's the only real 3D thing they have to display up until the match starts that involves the character models.

Probably not. I mean, I'm sure it's technically possible for them to do that, but it's certainly not very feasible. The storage required to have a prerendered video for every combination of costume, hairstyle and accessories for every single character, at a resolution and image quality that doesn't negate the purpose of making it prerendered to begin with... It's gotta be nuts.

Interestingly enough the character rendering resolution was dropped significantly in the online mode of the beta. Really dithered and undetailed. I wonder why they had to drop the rendering quality there. Maybe it was just a bug though...
