Helena in DOA5U

I think it's a universal change to the gameplay but can't say for sure... I know at least 5 characters lost their FTs though. Tina's ground throw should still be guaranteed since it's not FT (unlike Bass) but I can't confirm

BTW what's a strong low attack? Like a sliding kick or something? Because I've read Ayane and Leifang can't FT with their sweeps anymore

I would guess moves that provide decent stun on NH. Like Helena's BKO sweep would be one but maybe Ayane's 3P2K might not be seeing as the stun from it is much weaker.

So, so far we only have 2 new moves right ? The weird sitdown stun into BKO and the power launcher, right ?
Hmm, still, I wish they revived some moves.

Also, do you guys think her BT_PPK should be easier to connect with her combos ? I remember it being easier to perform in DOA4. Sure it's not the best combo ender, but I've always found it epic.

It would be good for when Helena's a bit far away from the wall but still get damage from it.
So.. yeah and give it mega-damage so no-one uses 4PPP the cheap move :3

I love that move too. Regardless of every character's weight class, it's just hard to connect the last kick in 5 unlike how it was before. I end up doing BT PP4K as my combo ender instead.

0:07 A new bind state attack from 6P+K.

0:08 a move that looks like her 8K but slower, maybe a mid kick version?

0:12 3K now summons coconuts from heaven!

LOL. Great, finally some "gameplay" footage. I'm glad they gave each character new moves. I'm particulary fond of that alternative 8K. It looks like Pai's 9K.

I hope it's a new move, if it's 8K then it's been nerfed pretty hard.

I don't think they can change a move like that. The animation is so different, it's like a totally new one. But at the same time, we don't have many options for a new input. So maybe yes, they did remove it...

As long as it's still a high and still launches well on CH I can deal with a speed nerf in exchange for it floating airborne opponents.

It's her best high launcher now that 8PP is gone so hopefully it remains as one.

Nice. Maybe the input is 236K, it looks kind of like they had a little delay and stepped forward before doing the kick. Also, no handslapls. I'm really interested in how Helena will play. So far she has 3 new moves we know about.

Also, 8PP is gone? Where did you hear that?

8PP isn't totally gone. Just became spinny and needs to be executed into 8PP2P for the low slash bit.

So far, I'm liking the new moves, especially that chop after 6P+K on 0:07. I have a feeling its input will be 6P+KP or 6P+K6P.

When I say 8PP I'm referring to the high punch launcher from DOA4 that was replaced with that crappy 2in1 high attack.

Hard to say about the handslaps, none of the videos before Vanilla's launch showed them being used for air juggles. It's likely they are still there TN never uses Helena very well, even the "Pro Fight" footage was rather meh.

6P+K is finally useful for something!

Ah, okay.

Uggggghhh they still haven't fixed her ponytail. At this point I just don't care anymore. Screw Helena's ponytail. I hope it burns in the Opera along with Team Ninja.

I can deal with the hair, if TN tried a new style they would probably botch it anyway. Still would be happy if it was longer though.

I'm more focused on her guaranteed damage. At least one bind state attack and a new sit down stun, things are looking fairly positive at the moment.

Amen to that. I'm glad Team Ninja is moving away from her force tech centered playstyle.

It might still be in there, if what I heard is true then Helena won't be able to force tech with 6P any more so 2K from BKO might be her only way of force teching. And if she uses that as a PFT and it whiff's she will be at heavy negative frames unlike with 6P.

We won't know until we get our hands on her ourselves, TN just can't use her to her fullest.

I'll test it all out and post my findings on release day.

Oh really? That's pretty cool that she might still have the option to do them.

This game comes out the day before I start school, so I'll be in my room literally the whole day testing also! >:D Who needs food, water, education or care when you have DOA5U? lol
