It depends on the work for the fate for a cocky teen.
If that cocky teen happens to be the main protagonist [or even just a friend of a protagonist] of a game/film/whatever then yeah it's considered 'an endearing character trait' where his fists can back up what his mouth speaks. Think of stuff like Naruto and every other shonen themed anime/videogame ever.
However there are plenty of examples where a cocky teen ends up being just fodder material. They can't back up what they speak and end up being another lose statistic to whoever they fought against. There are even examples where a cocky teen character will have repeated appearances and is considered a joke character at that point since he clearly didn't learn from the first time, but still insists at running his mouth.
Although to be fair in the above example he cools down his cockiness later on which is how he gets stronger. I just like this fight since being a loudmouth that can take a few hits doesn't automatically give you a win flag all the time. Also brutal.

we're talking fighting games though and since everyone is meant to be able to compete against others that kind of beat down is pretty much something only the main villain could deliver. at that point the person isn't getting their ass beat for being cocky, but because they are fighting the strongest person in the world and pretty much every fighter would fair just as well.

Are we going by fighting game story lore [where it makes it clear that x can never beat y] or by literal gameplay? If the latter then no shit since personality is irrelevant [the character can be cocky, polite, a mute, or whatever] since the victor is decided by a mix of player skill and developer character balance.
If by story lore then again still plenty of cocky characters in fighting games that get the short end of the stick and they don't have to fight the big bad to get it.

But I can tell you for sure that the new character is certainly not a VF one .. so you can omit that off of the top list ..
