DOA5LR New character expectations (Spring 2016)

A lot of people are assuming a male wouldn't sell. I think a new male would sell just as well, seeing as how the fanbase complains about lack of male characters, even though the roster is pretty balanced if you do not count the VF guests and Alpha, who is technically not female.

We only had one male dlc character and that was Not-Cyber-Akuma.
In comparison there was four female dlc characters which were Marie Rose, Phase Four, Nyotengu, and Honoka.
^ This perfectly illustrates how much faith they have in marketing their male characters to their primary consumer base.
I mean it could still be male, but yeah it's easily the weaker odds. Just because they said they haven't 'decided' on if it's a male or female doesn't boost a male's chances. If anything that answer is a standard business cop-out just to avoid leaking too much info [already confirming the gender?] since we are still months away from release.

LoL, I don't think it's an assumption to say a male won't sell. History has dictated such, and as mentioned above, vocal minority does not mean squat.
Male or female, I just hope the character will be a fun addition to DOA's roster. I admit, I was disappointed in Honoka's mimic like fighting style, especially since Raidou already covered that, but she turned out to be a fun addition to the cast. I mean, it's pretty funny when you've been beaten by a high school girl with an enormous bust who still checks to see if you're okay after she just kicked your ass. XD

Well even though females make more money then males, TN could take the risk if they were willing too.
But yeah I doubt they'd take the risk, especially with DOAX3 in development.

People are vocal with their complaints on younger female characters like Marie Rose and Honoka, but based on stuff like this it just proves those people are a vocal minority and characters like them are just as loved and popular in the west as they are in Asia.

Here is a new character concept I made.
A character idea I have for the new DOA5LR character
Name: Nobuko
Age: 72 (has a 21 year old form)
Gender: Female
Country: Japan
Occupation: Warrior, Store Owner
Alignment: Good
Personality: Old fashioned/Wise
Fighting style: Nobuko Samurai Style (remade Genra's moveset)
Character relationships:
Honoka- granddaughter
Ayane- granddaughter (unaware of her existence)
Kasumi- great niece
Hayate- great nephew
Raidou- son
Design:
Old form
Young form
Background: Like her grandaughter Honoka, Nobuko also has a strange gift. Actually 2 strange gifts. The first is that she has the ability to transform into her younger self. While she prefers her sticking to her senior form majority of the time, she prefers her younger form while in combat. The second is that she can use summon a nagita as well as fire balls and other tricks in combat as well. Nobuko is the mother of Raidou and is the grandmother of Honoka.
Story: Nobuko was a legendary warrior back in her younger days when she lived in the village (same as Kasumi's). She also loved and cared for her son Raidou who when he was young trained in combat too. But many years later he grew power hungry and evil in which she has tried many times to stop him but failed many times. Even though she is brave, she couldn't bring herself to hurt her own son. Raidou had a lover named Yuka who he had a child with. But because of his power seeking ways, he neglected them. Yuka was severely sick around the time she was pregnant and was unable to take care of her alone and was afraid Raidou's outbreak would cause harm to her daughter. She passed away months later, and before she did she asked Nobuko if she can take care of her daughter, Honoka. Nobuko accepted her wish and secretly moved away from the village to protect her granddaughter from the tragedy. They moved to the city where they lived in peace, even though she heard of her sons death. While she rarely showed that side in front f Honoka and others, she still felt guilty for not trying to stop her son. But now that Raidou has been revived (in Cyber Form), she looks as it as an opportunity to save her son from his horrible ways and undo her guilt where she hopes she can reunite with her son and live peacefully again.
Xtreme Story: Nobuko and Honoka got an invitation to Zack Island for the next DOA tournament. Assuming Raidou would be there she decided to go. She later found out that it was a lie and was upset at this. But later she decided she'd just stick around the island. She prefers staying in her younger form throughout the vacation.
This may sound far fetched, but what if the new character was Honoka's grandmother? She is mentioned in Honoka's profile so she may have some sort of relevancy to the game. And with Honoka possibly being related to Ayane/Raidou, her grandmother could be a fighter too.
She'd probably have a power where she could transform into her younger form like this Oume & Otane from Power Instinct or Sayuri from Senran Kagura.

In onechanbara the villain was an old hag who shifts to her younger self with blood magic so her robes fall open as she gets taller and you see her sexy body in just QN open kimono and thong but then you realize oh god she was already wearing the thong and no bra as an old hag *hork*
Okay and now that I've played as and against genra, if they do a fem version, I hope they drop the sword and projectiles from the move set. The melee is actually cool

Is this about the gameplay [some new fighting style DoA hasn't done before]? The character aesthetic [robot girl, cat girl, or a million other things] ? Some unexplored character troupe in DoA [crazy yandere, obnoxious tsundere, etc?]

It probrably will be a trap. I mean some fans have been asking for a new male for a while and we also know that females in DOA sell better then males. But if they have a trap, they'd be satisfying the wish of those who wanted a male while also likely having this character sell well (maybe so much as at Marie Rose level which TN seem to want to be at again). Not to mention a trap would stand out and be unique in the cast.
I find the idea of a trap utterly pointless. you make a character that is deemed unfapable by a majority of players since its considered gay. at the same time you don't appease anyone who wanted a male since you rob them of all masculinity. No, just no.

Well only as of ryu/hayate gaining teleports. Before that they weren't anything special compared to the rest of the cast.
But I mean more real people like bass, Zack, jann Lee, etc. No more anime girls or fantasy creatures please
