Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge General Discussion

People what is the impression of the higher difficulties for Razor's Edge (Master Ninja and Ultimate)? Better than Ng3 or Ng2 (I want say less cheaper/random and more challenging)? Sorry if this was already mentioned previously, I didn't read all the thread.

Hilariously awkward moment I ran into playing as Ayane in Day 6. I've cleared out the 3 bosses at the end, cutscene rolled in, and something seemed off when I moved my controller. I took a closer look, and wiggled my controller during one of the shots of Ayane in the cutscene. And you know what I get?

SIXAXIS jiggle physics.

Just when I thought it was safe, we get that thrown in here now. Good going Team Ninja XD

Well actually it's not a surpirse or a news, the sixaxis was implemented since the Wii U version of Razor's Edge.

There were two parts of MN for me that stood out as cheap. First was the acid pit and second was the unbelievably terrible final boss. The rest of the game has gotten so much better that it sticks out even more than it did in the first release. I have yet to jump into Ultimate Ninja but I'm actually predicting it'll be easier as the enemies' tendency to grab has gone up with each difficulty. I'm guessing it'll be a gigantic SoB chain from start to finish.

From the sound of that, it sounds like Master Ninja would be a stress relieving SoB frenzy XD Although chaining it from the Black Spider Clan enemies is a huge pain in the rear since their de-limb grabs come out ridiculously fast and hard to see coming. They hardly try to grab me otherwise, so I just fight them like I would playing NG2 and keep SoB out of my repertoire until I run into enemies more easier to read <.<

Master Ninja isn't really too grab happy actually. The low level soldiers are, but none of the other enemies really do it. You typically have to bait the grabs out and certain strings can do it. For instance, just the normal XXXXX with the scythe on the gorilla chimera will generally result in a block that knocks you back and they usually either try to grab there or do a punch. There are other things that usually get grabs too, like the beret soldiers; if you let them finish their main four hit string that guard breaks at the end they almost always go for their lunging grab. Stuff like that is how I fish for SoB when I need it for health or karma purposes.

I oughtta try this out after I finish grinding for Lunar Staff Master (already has Katana and Dual Sword Master). Should have that nailed by the time I hit MN Day 3 after I finish Days 7 and 8 of my Hard Mode run. I should probably go back to Day 4 in CC for the Crystal Skull since I missed it somehow before worrying about that.

Does anyone else save their health packs for the final boss? Just curious.

I saved one for the final boss on Master Ninja. It wasn't enough. So cheesy in the last part, where it was super easy on the previous difficulties.

Hey guys,

New here to the forum and enjoying reading through everyone's excellent posts. Just got Razor's Edge for the 360 a few days ago and loving it----seriously, I cannot believe how much effort went into this by TN and how much better it is than vanilla NG3! I did not hate vanilla NG3, but only played through it once as it was so unsatisfying. Now, RE could come close for me to be as enjoyable as NG2!

RE is still held back a little by some of the residual core elements from vanilla NG3 that it is built on---mainly, the uninspired design of some levels and bosses. But, these things aside:

- Visuals and sound design are the best yet in NG series for me

- Weapon animations and movesets are maybe best yet in NG series for me (I know some are disappointed that not all weapons are back in---but all of my personal favorites are back and, for what it is worth, the weapons RE includes are the most "true" weapons a Japanese ninja would theoretically wield).

- Steel on Bone and dismemberment together are a match made in heaven--- SoB is now a great addition to the NG gameplay and is very satisfying.

- The new Ayane stages, particular her Day 2 level, are great additions---the Ayane Day 2 level is actually wonderfully designed and laid out, and has me even more encouraged that Team Ninja really heard and took to heart some complaints. They showed they can do a proper NG stage again here imho.

- The Falcon Dive, Cicada Surge teleport counter and Four Rings 360 shuriken attack are all also excellent new additions to NG gameplay.

Bottom line though---it is just a blast to play! I am nearly done with my Normal run and will be starting Hard soon.

Ouch.
-----------
Just thought I'd share my two cents.

- Visuals and sound design are the best yet in NG series for me
Sound is at it's worst, imo. Was better in NG 1 and 2.
Visuals are best on people now, but environments are, again, at their least inspired.

- Weapon animations and movesets are maybe best yet in NG series for me (I know some are disappointed that not all weapons are back in---but all of my personal favorites are back and, for what it is worth, the weapons RE includes are the most "true" weapons a Japanese ninja would theoretically wield).
They butchered the Dragon Sword for me. It has only two new combos (arguably three) that I like, whereas it botched a ton of great ones from NG2. Not fond of Lunar XXY being gone, or the removal of the Shrike drop, old Styx drop, etc. Claws got better this time 'round, though, as did Ayane and Momiji.

- Steel on Bone and dismemberment together are a match made in heaven--- SoB is now a great addition to the NG gameplay and is very satisfying.
Agree and disagree. I like it, but sometimes I feel like it's a crutch on the gameplay. It feels like EVERY fight all I wind up doing is circle-dashing, baiting grabs and using SoB for max karma. Sort-of invalidates most of the moves, propelling the scythe and kusari-gama to God-status. Kind of annoying.

- The new Ayane stages, particular her Day 2 level, are great additions---the Ayane Day 2 level is actually wonderfully designed and laid out, and has me even more encouraged that Team Ninja really heard and took to heart some complaints. They showed they can do a proper NG stage again here imho.
I like the first Ayane stage, but the whole shipping crates routine gets old fast.

- The Falcon Dive, Cicada Surge teleport counter and Four Rings 360 shuriken attack are all also excellent new additions to NG gameplay.
I rarely use the latter two, but they are fun as hell. :p

Bottom line though---it is just a blast to play! I am nearly done with my Normal run and will be starting Hard soon.
Agreed. I've finished Normal and Hard, though it'll be some time I think before I get MN done. It's the end of the semester and school is really kicking up for me. Looking forward to it, though!

Folks, as I did for the original release, I'm writing the achievement guide for x360a for Razor's Edge. Head over there (no need to register if you don't want to post) and let me know any additions, corrections, or formatting opportunities you notice. I appreciate direct feedback. I only just barely started it so it's extremely light on content for now but the basic structure is all in place.

Never want to do UN1 Again

atleast it was easier than NG3 UN1 version, you had 3 Fiend Genshins at once and 2 genshin x 5 waves LOL

Dark Savior is also a multiplayer only achievement, as far as I know (NT can't be done locally with a partner).

No AI bot on higher Trials? I only knocked out the 10 for Lone Ninja last night. My thought was that, similar to Sigma 2, you get an AI bot that you could revive. Makes sense though if true.

I have no idea actually. I made an assumption. I changed it in the guide for now, though.

Van Gelfs are so annoying in MN. It's funny.. they were jokes in NGS2, and now they're one of the more intimidating foes for me. They're easy to delimb and kill off, but when more than one jump into the screen, I start to get anxious lol.
