Soul Calibur Thread

I will play Soul Calibur games actively again when Mitsurugi gets his Relic stance back. That removal and change to GIs in 5 just made Mitsurugi almost unplayable for me, I played him since I started in Soul Blade and have never dropped him since and this nearly happened. I am a GI nut, in my group of friends I GI'd more than I would block and they all hated me for that because I was the only person getting insta kills in 4.

I noticed Mitsurugi is getting his FFBBB back from SC2. That is nice. Hopefully he also gets his side stances (U/D B+K) and all his parries (Relic B+K, B+K, A+K).

One thing I would like to return (never going to happen again though) is the SC3 custom classes that aren't just a costume with a character's play style. Oh, and make Hwang an actual character again. And get rid of those godawful newcomers (Xiba, really? I don't care if Kilik is a Swordmaster now, make him the staff master).

Why do people continue beating a dead horse? Like ok you didn't like SCV, we get it. The game came out in 2012, time to move on.

I agree the hate on SCV is for the lamest shit, because the actual game mechanics, game design and visuals are all top notch. Majority of the hate on SCV is just being petty and refusing to accept change, or something new.

My only complaint for SC5 is that it was rushed and that the newcomers didn't have enough development. Otherwise, the game is great.

Absolutely, the newcomers look alright visually but their personalities and backstories are godawful and under-developed. The story mode was also cringeworthy. However I stopped giving a shit about that by, about, March 2012. Been enjoying the actual gameplay ever since!

Been trying to get into SC2 HDO again but I forgot how mashy and spammy that game was.

I agree with him. I have no problem with SCV either, it's just unfortunate that Daishi couldn't get any more time to finish the game. I do miss Xianghua and Setsuka (a lot), but Lexia is alright for a Krita-Yuga sword fighter

The main complaints is gameplay changes and their favorite characters missing.

I mean I was disappointed when certain characters were cut, but I found new favorites and moved on. It's a shame, really.

I do miss Talim, but on the same token, Nightmare is still there. So people just need to get over it and learn to adapt. The game is set 17 years after SC4, so most of the older characters probably aren't returning in the next SC game.

Talim is beastly in SC2 but she sucked ass in SC4. Still would've been cool to see her in SCV in some way (The thought of a 32-year old Talim makes me hot for some reason). In terms of gameplay, the current cast is fine, although it wasn't really necessary to have 3 mimics, even if Elysium is awesome!

I doubt that, though. If y'all wanna go by story, SCIV from what I remember was supposed to be the last game.

I liked SCV a lot because it added fresh faces, different game mechanics, and it added little extra things like character specific quotes for timeouts/intro/outro/etc., heavy breathing, improved face animations. This game would have truly been amazing if they had more development time and resources. For me, it's the best in the series. So when I see people diss the game I take it personal, cuz I believe it's something truly great and refreshing.

I agree with everything you said. SC5 is the best in the series. I like that it added new faces and new mechanics, but people just didn't want to adapt. Turning your back on a series due to new characters is dumb. I could see if the gameplay was terrible, but it wasn't.

I heard that some people weren't too happy about the patch update that was made shortly after the game's release.

Yes because it buffed Viola to the moon and nerfed Leixia to shit tier. Scrubs whined about Viola and she got buffed prematurely. The patch came way too early into SCV lifespan, however, by and large SCV balance is still solid. People are still figuring out shit with characters like ZWEI.
