Team Ninja shares additional details on the next Dead or Alive 5 patch

Team Ninja.jpg

While a solid roll out date still hasn't been nailed down for the next upcoming Dead or Alive 5 patch, director Yohei Shimbori was kind enough to share a few tweets on some additional features that we'll see, noting that the next patch will be a major update.

One of the cool additions Shimbori mentioned is that we'll be seeing the popular demand to save replays of lobby matches, along with the ability to now kick unwanted players from your lobby as well.

Here are the additional patch details from Shimbori:

[D-YS] I was able to check some stuff about the next patch this week, so I'll tweet a little bit about it.

[D-YS] First off, you will now be able to save replays of lobby matches.

[D-YS] A lot of people were asking for that feature, so we worked hard to put it in.

[D-YS] Also, the host of a lobby match will now be able to kick a waiting player out of a lobby, even while they're watching a match.

[D-YS] Also, you'll be able to search for lobbies by connection quality.

[D-YS] There are lots of other improvements and additions too. The next patch is going to be a major update.

[D-YS] I'll fill you in on more details as soon as I can confirm them myself (including the patch release date...)

Update for December 29th
[D-YS] The next patch is named "Ver.1.03". The name might be boring, but it has a lot of new features.

[D-YS] One of those features is uploading movies of replays.

[D-YS] I tested it by uploading a movie to YouTube.

[D-YS] Ver.1.03 will allow uploads to both YouTube and Facebook.

[D-YS] Facebook uploads are available to both Xbox 360 and PS3. YouTube uploads can only be performed from a PS3.

[D-YS] So now, even people without video capture equipment can upload fight videos.

[D-YS] Fighters from around the world can now watch others' fights.

[D-YS] And did you catch some of the little tweaks to the fighting game itself?

[D-YS] Now that we have this feature, maybe I'll upload another movie soon...

Update for January 10th
[D-YS] Happy new year!

[D-YS] I'm starting the year off with another upload of Ver.1.03 footage. This time to YouTube. #DOA5

[D-YS] This time, we have La Mariposa vs. Hayate, and I'm sure you'll notice changes in this fight too. #DOA5

[D-YS] We haven't practiced the new moves enough to use them well, but... #DOA5

[D-YS] I'm sure all of you will show us what these moves can do! (video uploads ftw) #DOA5

[D-YS] There are lots of new features in Ver.1.03 for all players, not just hard-core fans. We'll post the full list of changes soon! #DOA5

At best she needs a wake up kick and even that is pushing it. Aside from that she's fine the way she is.
Since the wake-up kicks are nerfed, I think that this is highly possible. I haven't unlocked her yet in DOA5, but it was a pain not being able to wake-up kick with Alpha-152 in Dimensions, so I hope that this make in the DOA5.03.

What I noticed:
Fast side step recovery @0:13
No wake up kick pushback on guard @0:16
Raijin @0:36
Lisa's BT 7p is now a CB @1:08

it looks like you get 4P+K guaranteed off of Lisa's throw that leave you with your opponent BT. It also looks like going into BT is now an SS.

236K is a GB again, new wind dash cancels for stronger CB combos and mixups, and the old Raijin. Good stuff but if nothing else changes for him, especially frame data among other things, he still won't be that much more of a threat.

It looks like Hayate's 2/8P+K still sucks too. You've got a long way to go, Hayate. Here's hoping for some Akira buffs, though the VF characters will probably stay the same for certain reasons.

New Critical Burst from Lisa. Sidestep in to BT was extremely fast. Her carrera throw looks like it could be done a lot faster. Her BT throw leads into guaranteed combos, booty bump leads to guaranteed stun.

Lisa is looking much better.

I see they have made a lot of character chages. I hope they are for the best. Also, I hope system changes, which are the most important thing, go in the right direction (like the nerf to wake up kicks and more critical burst moves and less stuns in the EotE stage or in general).

PS: Is the side step confirmed to have better recovery now?

There better be patch notes for every balance change in this patch. Everything from new moves to frame data changed on existing moves. (And buffs for Hitomi and Akira, she needs to go back to Alpha build status and he's a step behind the other two VF characters. >_<)

We have some serious Rajin skills here...or maybe they added additional input directions in the third part of the d-pad commands.

Itagaki on Rajin:

I was the one who chose the command inputs used to perform that move, but I never imagined I would meet a player who is able to pull it off 100% of the time. By the way, allow me to tell you how the command input sequence for "Raijin" came into being. This should be easy to understand if you visualize the commands in your head; that attack represents an action in the shape of a cross, four diagonal cross-cuts that slice the opponent into pieces

Seems like they are using two blades now

Lisa's 9k into guaranteed CB? Yes please. Guaranteed booty bump from 64t? Yes yes yes. Shit's about to get real. And what's that new sidestep? It looks like it puts you behind the opponent.

The sidestep was interesting. Like to see what other people think of this because I see a couple of possibilities.

Is it Lisa specific? So she has a sidestep -> BT.
Is SS now faster recovery (it looked really damn quick), buffing everyone.
Do successful SS's now go all the way around?

This last one seems least likely as the SS went off, dodged the attack and there was a good break before the side swap was finished.
Just figured I'd see what other people thought of this. Personally I think it is most likely a specific SS move.

236k a guard brake again..?

Maybe there is some hope for Hayate after all!

We can't confirm if it's advantage. From the compressed video it "looks" like the frame data reads as +3, which would be -3 since it's from Lisa's perspective. If that's accurate, it would mean it's safe, but disadvantage.

If it's gone from -5 on normal block to a -3 GB then patching the move is pointless as advantage is the only reason to throw out the move. Nothing changes for Hayate except a new mixup and launcher combos. Great...

The GB alone is at least enough to scare off the uninitiated. Can't tell you how many times people think that Bass' 66P or 66K are advantage just because of the GB animation.

lol!? Damn -3 on block would still suck... Oh my there goes my hope i guess...

I highly doubt this one video shows all of Hayate's changes. Not saying you should get your hopes up, but I doubt we know everything at this point.
