Things are moving on Xentax.

Going past the texture mod ? This will be possible soon ;p

credits to sf234.
thanks for the work
I give another week or 2. I will start putting custom models. But even if we get a tool we still need a 3ds max script still after we get into more data. It will be a while til you see more than textures. Maybe next step is editing engine files but anything else will be longer.

Ideally I wouldn't go changing anything that would have an effect on hitboxes or move properties. If you do, please don't go releasing tutorials on it. When online play hits, that opens up a can of worms. The last thing we need is this game getting VAC enabled due to complaints of hacked movelists, and then people getting steam accounts banned for harmless costume mods.

I dont think TN cares much at all.

This seems more like an accounting and lawyering crusade from within the bowels of KT more than anything.

Still, I suppose I can always ask Tom whats up.

TN only cares about your money and their self being. Your dealing with the most selfish company ever right now. They worse than Ubisoft and EA combined. They just want to control the money flow that's all and they could give a rats ass about anything. You could break the game where it steals people's info and they wouldn't even care. As i said TN are not trustworthy to the people.

Team Ninja isn't a company. They are a development studio working for a company, and a number of us have met with them several times. They are not a western company with western practices, and that means they aren't getting paid anymore for successful DLC or crap DLC. I have fairly decent insight into what motivates them, and I'm asking about this very situation right now.

If anyone has a problem with you guys it would probably be someone at KT. But that's why I'm asking.

I know they are a a dev team. But they are a child company that's apart of a bigger company. They have a management team there that works with the bigger boss. I know how the industry works man. I've worked with a few before. TN are still responsible for their actions.

Not necessarily their actions. Also:
This isn't a circle i'm shedding light so people see how the game industry works. Hard to explain how a company is structured in that sort of business. It's like a shell company that's linked to a bigger corp that does the bigger stuff. And the shell company is the 1 works on the product.

Any ways my plans are also to make new levels for the game if possible. There's someone on xentax forums saying they are working on a DLC thing that the game will read as 1.

Brute, just let this one play out. It's kind of important.

We know these guys personally GamingDamned (personally as in, gone out to dinner with them on several occasions), so it's not as though we need much light shed on how they operate. If anything, the newcomers from the PC community are the ones who don't have much experience with them. I'm on your side in this, but if someone is coming at you its important to know who it is, rather than lashing out at the lowest man on the totem pole. You feel me?

Yes i feel you. We do need some answers on this, Because they really shouldn't be doing these things to people period. I personally feel ripped off that we paid for a game and got something that was not 100% good. They basically spit in out face and said you give us money and we gave you a piece of cake. And if you want rest you gotta pay tons more. Not sure what they think what was gonna happen. We deserve respect how do they think we respect them after this? I would say they need to come out and say sorry to us and fix this.

My bet is less than half week, and we will have necessary tools to create and inject custom models, or slitty modified ones at least. This shit is going fast as hell

I don't get all the butt-hurt about them removing MODs videos guys... It's normal, I mean, you know how crappy is the new Copy-right business on YT ? Basically they could remove every vids that show their game without direct permission. They just decided to do it so as to say "we don't approuve the modding", which is their right. This is not like they publicly went against all the modding scene trying to sue our asses... Having your videos deleted is part of the game ^^

Not if we don't have the 3ds max script. We need a importer and a exporter script in order to do this. This won't be made until we get the model data first exported. Also making 3ds scripts will take a bit as after they do that they need to write a that with the compiled data received. There's so many things that needs to be done before we get further than were we are now. Also there's shader data and material data and so on that needs to be known and studied.

Well the current Team Ninja is split between a bunch of projects, and the smaller number of people still working on DOA were to left to release LR on five different platforms with not even a year to work on it -- not counting arcade, which still doesn't have the updated graphics or new levels. And PC was a very last minute addition. It's actually kind of a small miracle it's turned out as good as it has.

So yea, it's not ideal for them either. I can tell you with certainty that this isn't really the way they wanted to release it, and there are elements within TN fighting to get devtime to improve it. You should of course still be pissed off, but at least with knowledge of the broad picture.

I see none of us sleep.. also looking at KT's business model for DW/GW/SW..anything warriors games for DLC.. and then at DOA5.. it's pretty obvious to me that their legal department is leading the charge and TN doesn't give a crap what we do. They didn't care back when we were modding DOA3 either really. Pretty sure as long as nude mods don't start slandering the game on every news site they really won't go after us for things that add change to the game (ie: skins, stage redesigns..additions particle effects.. etc)

Well people would hate this but there is a way for them to solve it. They can spend time by patching adding and improving to get where they could get the game where it was needed. I hope they can prove to us that they can do such task. I will still buy their games if they just give up the going after modders and such. I'm sure they will be forced to stop and think about this. I have faith that they will do the right thing. Sure it was a miracle that it was put on pc at the stage it was. Their ratings right now is around 60% positive on steam. They need to bring that number higher if they plan on a new game. I sure hope they can put the newer engine and direct x 11 or 12 on pc version. And by having this they can have a option where lower end users use the old engine and higher end use the later engine.

Very glad to get a confirmation about it.

Umm, fast progress has been occurring because all of this was already done for consoles. Latest working updates have been completed by the people who have paved the way on consoles. There was even a 3dsmax script, so even the conversion for that is not going to take that long.

@Rikuto, thanks for stepping into handle the expanded facts on the discussion. I'd have lost it at the last few exchanges.

@Chapstick, The issue with Bayman's chest scar isn't mesh related. You have to change the normal map as well as the 'alpha' layer in the colored texture. DOA uses the alpha layer(face/body only) for some surface property.
