Apologies in advance for the shameless self-promotion - I thought I'd share a bit of my own music in case anyone was interested lol.
I do a Dark Electronic/Techno-pop sort of thing, very much influenced by synthesizer-based music of the 80's and 90's. Much of it sounds like the sort of music you might hear at a "goth-industrial" club.

This one's from my 2020 compilation album, "A Collision":

Here's the lead single from that album, my take on the subgenre of Synthwave (think "Blinding Lights"):

If music videos (and guitars) are more your thing, here's one from an 80's New Wave-influenced side project of mine that I did back in 2018. Yes, that's me singing (amateurishly) and prancing around in the aviator sunglasses and eyeliner (I wore an awful lot of black clothing back then lol):

All songs are available for streaming/purchase on Spotify, Itunes, Bandcamp, etc.
Thats pretty good! I actually want to do music myself but more in video gaming music, I'd love to sing vocals for darker video games and I also would love to compose but for now I'm currently providing voices for my favorite female Bara video maker so that's a start xD

Some other songs I've loved recently:

Not really into her much anymore since I've kinda outgrown her, but when she does make a hard record I definitely will listen and this was one of her hardest songs yet. I haven't really listened to her recently tho, just not really my taste anymore

I love this song since it captures the more serious, darker intensity of bisexuality or interest in the same sex but in a more muted non overly sexual way. I like how it's not a heartbreak song and it's more just a song about a girl wanting to enjoy time with another girl

This is more anime but I love this song alot since it captures the more hood, chill afro centric vibe of ancient samurai, plus its a vibe to listen to when you're high or drunk xD

I think video games are a great source of inspiration when it comes to music making! My favourite racing game series, Wip3out (not to be confused with the reality T.V. show lol), was actually one of the biggest influences on me when I first started producing my own songs. It had an absolutely stellar soundtrack of classic 90's techno and club acts (The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Fluke, etc.). Sadly, Wip3out is now an effectively dead I.P., as Studio Liverpool is now defunct.

If you're interested in composing/producing music though, I'd say go for it! There's nothing quite like the feeling of finishing a song, playing it on the stereo, and being able to say "Hey, I made this myself!". In recent years, it's also become more accessible than ever to produce music at home - there's a wide range of free/cheap beginner audio production software out there, and all kinds of useful videos on how to use it.

Sometimes though, the most fun way to learn about music production is through experimentation - that's pretty much how I started lol. When I first took a stab at producing music in 6th grade, all I had was a Casino keyboard and a free DAW my Dad had installed on our home computer - limitations like these can often help to provide direction to creative growth.

I like the tracks you've shared as well! I think I've heard that Daya track - I believe I may have actually Shazam'd it after hearing it last time I was at the mall. I like it when modern tracks incorporate clubby atmospheric touches like that. I also recognise Nujabes - a prominent lo-fi hip-hop producer and a significant influence on Joji if I'm not mistaken. There was a point in time where I listened to Joji's Ballads 1 a lot, and I can see that Joji must've been inspired a great deal by Nujabes' work.

i like Lets get dirty mainly since i looked up its the OG instrumental that dirrty by Christina is based on, I like Christie's song more for the dirtier club vibe but this one I like since it gives a more edgier fighting type atmosphere

Some tracks I've been listening to faithfully:

I've really liked the direction that Taylor Swift has taken on this latest album, and Anti Hero is definitely my favourite track on it. The production is excellent and it's refreshing to hear her return to making electronic/club-influenced pop again. Very glad I picked up the CD last time I was at Target lol
