Awesome, Team Ninja explained the singularity of Leon's fighting style just with him being influenced by his years passed in the desert (one of the speculations in this thread)

Leon was originally trained in Combat Sambo, but after a few years spent roaming the desert and honing his fighting skill, he has added many unique and powerful new moves to his arsenal.

Looks like we finally are going to have a very original Leon(No longer Bayman clone, yeah!) Can't wait to try his new tools that TN mentioned :)

Courtesy of Mesharey. Ignore the terrible gameplay.

Just going by that Desert Falcon I think my 60% combo will still work.

DEAR LORD that Hold damage.

BTW: Thanks to DFWM I want a Big Boss outfit for Leon.

Well, with that move list displayed in that match, I don't see anything new about his style. This isn't a bad thing; however, all the notes made it sound like they were doing a complete revamp.

Yeah, not really digging him retaining alot of baymans strikes where bayman gets more follow ups 1p, 1k, 6k etc all have extended string variety for bayman where leon is just stuck with the single hit versions with no potential follow ups afterwards. i was hoping with his new official style being cqc they would've either added new string variations to those moves, changed their properties to compensate for not having followups, allow him to cancel into his tackle from them, or replaced them with new moves altogether to further differentiate him from Bayman.

on the bright side it looks like 33p still causes sitdown like in DOA4, so this gives him a high crushing sitdown stun to work with and a great tool against pokers like christie/kasumi. hopefully he gets shit guaranteed from it. his 6p/p6p seems still intact and is his main tool for pressure/mixups.

So far the only 100% new thing we've seen from him is the ground bounce throw, so hopefully he has more tricks up his sleeves

I'd like to see the dervish throw possible from any floor angle. That would give him a nice incentive for hard knock-downs.

Please, that's because Bayman is a PANSY.

Leon doesn't NEED follow ups, just a single hit, like a REAL MAN.

It depends on the frame data and what he is left at. I remember one of my favorite strings I linked together was 66P, 2, while rising K, Air throw.

I remember hitting them, and they went flying, and I was happy.

I just focused on the fact that Leon is a powerhouse. No need for strings or linking things together, really. Just SLAM the fuckers with his most powerful attacks! It's all in the timing, baby!

:214::P: was i18 in DOA4, so I don't know if that's guaranteed after a sit-down stun. If it's fast enough, then it could be guaranteed, otherwise :236::K: (i17) or something similar.

One thing he really lacks is a :3::K: like Bayman. Most of his good kicks are highs. Also, according to the DOA4 frame data, his WR kick is 12i, which is crazy, but I doubt it can be used at all after :3::3::P:

I kinda would like to see his little trip kick from DOA3 back, I always found it to be really useful, even if the overhead was telegraphed like anything. I think the original input was :2::K::4::K: in DOA3, although Bayman has a similar one now so I've not got my hopes up or anything. I'm already more than excited to play Leon anyway, so even if he ends up being ass-tier I'll still be maining him.

I never heard of this kicks.. Is there any video that shows that kind of attack?

he actually does have that string in DOAD. its :2::H+K::K:
at the 6:52 mark
he'll most likely retain it in 5U. it will be a damn good string since it would give him a guaranteed ground grab if connected

ALL DOA6 DOA5 DOA4 DOA3 DOA2U DOAD
