What do you want for NG4?

Hey Brute just read your post. I don't get what you mean with "perpetuity".
Probably my limit, english ain't my mother language (yes I know, I didn't have to say that :p)
No worries. It's not a word you'll commonly come across even in English-speaking countries.
I'm basically talking about "lasting-appeal," or how long the game keeps you coming back for more. This is typically increased when you get easier access and continual rewards. Things like level selects/ratings, multiplayer, unlocks, etc. all add to a game's "perpetuity."

One thing you didn't say about Sigma2 that made many people hate it (but I loved it!) is that the fight pace is often a bit slower, sometimes less enemies on screen etc.
This and a couple of other small changes made the game a bit (just a tiny bit!) more similar to NG1 and I apreciated that.
It's not something specific for me. I like very fast-paced action, but only if it's devised in a way that can be approached tactically with quick-thinking rather than frantically. For example, I love the way you can complete NG1 without ever receiving damage. NG2 you simply cannot because the fights were designed with the idea that you would inevitably be hit here and there because things got to crazy (ie: there was no way to "perfect" each encounter). So if getting that tactical edge requires slowing the game down a bit, I'm okay with that.

With Hayabusa and Hayate for protagonists, because fuck even more boobs! We have DOA and DOAX for that! NG has to be testosteronic, manly and hairy, very hairy.
Never understood why Hayate wasn't in RE. Harem syndrome I guess.
Anyway, I'm fine with Ayane/Momiji being in the game, but not all of the alternate characters aside from Ryu should be women. Come on, TN. Get real. :p

Did you ever play the ds game brute? I noticed it's not in your list.
No, unfortunately. Never owned a DS. Looks awesome, though. I noticed that you re-visit sections from Vigoor and the Hayabusa village, and it features Momiji before she got all whore-d out. Jelly.

I do have a DS but I barely touched the console, never played DS. Was directed by Itagaki himself! But heard many strange things about it, mostly bad ones.
Momiji first appeared there if I recall, right?

@Brute
I call that "longevity" in my own language. I guess "perpetuity" is even more specific.
I get what you mean with the action speed. I don't dislike fastpaced action, it's just that 99% of games seems to focus on that and I feel the lack of options for something "different".
What I liked most about NG1 was freedom of choice. Game allowed you to play in so many different ways, and all were efficient and tactic.
I felt in control, there was no buttonmashing (well, almost! :p) and it felt like a BEU inside an action game.
I loved that feeling and sadly not even NG2 (which I define a really high quality action game, unlike NG3) gave me that feeling.
And no other Action Game at all tbh. When I play another action game, even reeeeally good one, in the end it always leaves me a sour taste in my mouth because I can't help it but compare it to the feelings NG1 gave me.

Oh btw, nobody talked about "Impact" a move that was added in NG through hurricane packs but was later removed.
I thought it was awesome but it became too powerful. Monsters they added later in the game were specifically overpowered to counterbalance the presence of Impact.
This in return made Impact no longer an option but a mandatory thing, and the gameplay changed too much.
I think this is the reason why they removed it.

Nonetheless, it was a really cool thing imho, despite me not being a super fan of parry/uberstrict-timing stuff.

Uhm almost forgot to reply to this.
It's not that I'm not fine Ayane or Momiji, love them. I loved Rachel too. Kasumi uhng was a bit too much.
The problem is rather different, and it's especially present in Razor Edge.

Too little differences between characters. They got too much "standardized". In the end they almost feel like a different skin of Ryu using a slightly different weapons.
Different animations but identical effects.
Of course it couldn't be any other way, it's much quicker and cheper for them to do things this way, and they can offer a bigger quantity and give users the "illusion" of more stuff, while it actually doesn't cost them that much developing time.

What I would love for bonus character is a lower number (only one? Max two?) but each with VERY different play style, completely different abilities and ways to interact with monsters and scenario.
That would make it interesting to play with another character, or to be able to choose them at the beginning of each level, or to tag them out, or to use one or another according to the story (like NG1 or NG2)
I don't care, but they have to give a REAL PURPOSE to those bonus character, other than just pure and cheap fan service.

Dunno if I'm able to convey through words what I really mean, still half brain dead atm.

Try Devil May Cry 3 if you haven't already. I still favor Ninja Gaiden: Black, but DMC3 gets damn close. Definitely moreso than any other action game.

I want the Tonfa and the Nunchaku back ! It would be nice If we could visit or play a level in the mugen tenshin clan. Ryu and Hayate slahing the demons for example. I want so traditional stages or nature stages for example. I would love if Ninja Gaiden get a Coop Story mode. I hope the Ninja Trials would be harder and possible to beat every trial with every weapon. What was that in NG3 RE: Take the Sycthe and spam 360 all the time. Ninja Gaiden 2 had a " Survial Mode " with every single weapon but it would be very awesome to play survial with a partner togeher in NG4. NGS2 had a double Ninpo right ? It would be came back that would be badass!

I agree I would love more traditional/japanese/nature settings. Best I can stand is something japanese/futuristic like Neo Tokyo.

But aside from our personal tastes it's true that NG has always been about this mixture of city-settings and japanese stuff, so at least the game has always been "coherent" with its roots.

I'd like for a bit more expansion on the bonus chacaracters with different weapons and some expermienting with weapon modification.. (Elements for certain enemies and bosses and bonus effects allowing for some different moves)

I'd like an expansion of blade and bone making it something more reliable and useful on some bosses and other monsters. If you can properly counter some attacks by reading them I think there should be a pay off.

3 insta kills after pressing Y when you see a bright red glowing enemy isn't enough?

Thing is that your payoff for a SoB with some bosses is lame. It's great on the pseudo-goddesses, but it's not that great on the Regent. Also, certain red-glowing attacks can't be SoB'd. Also certain grabds won't create red mist to let you SoB so it's cheap stun-free grab spam time. Also, certain mook enemies break your SoB chain for no reason other than to be dicks, and don't even die (such as dogs or Van Gelfs, who Ryu likes to auto-target during SoB-but ONLY during SoB because that's the most inconvenient time and any other time he refuses to target Van Gelfs when it's imperative to your victory that you focus on the Van Gelfs). Other times it also simply won't register. You'll attack a red-glow enemy, Ryu will do the special SoB attack animation, the enemy is still glowing red, the hit connects, the enemy staggers, but the SoB doesn't trigger. Probably some BS with the collision the developers didn't care enough to smooth-out.

Why does all this BS exist? Because SoB suffers from the same inconsistent, random bullcrap that the rest of the game does.

and yet yall seem really insistent on putting it in the next game....

in my opinion its a brain dead technique maybe if they limited it to just that one guy,but personally i wouldn't be sad to see it gone
