welp, with MK1 no longer being supported, every1's speculating about the next NRS game, which is either going to be Injustice 3 or that rumored MCU fighting game, but given how WB is more interested in turning all their games into live service store fronts, I don't even want to think about what their future fighting games will look like under the current WB model :/

DOA5 was the perfect blend of everything DOA players wanted along with esports. So I don’t understand the “don’t try to fit in with the esports crowd” argument. It’s so stupid it’s hard to entertain.

Fighting games are hard to make. That’s why MK is dead after two years. Gamers have “give me the next one” mentality which is a selfish and disposable way of thinking. I played Goldeneye five years straight and didn’t fuss.

Your first comment just felt like a reason to jump in to the censorship debate which has very little to do with the difficulties of making a fighting game, and you act like we are on different sides from that perspective and we’re not. I personally hate the unrealistic MK models. Sonya really needs to eat a sandwich.

As far as gamers being selfish… well they are and it has become the standard over time. Of course I am mainly talking about MP games not SG story modes (which still take years to make). Older games didn’t need daily challenges to keep being played.

My friend from steam was right! Fighting games nowadays has become fifa and other sports game titles. Sure it takes time to make but does it justify the bare minimum effort for maximum gain?

Mortal Kombat 1 Definitive Edition was a missed opportunity at being called "Mortal Kombat 1: And Done Edition". It's less of a mouthful, and everyone can relate to one-and-dones.

I joke but it does bother me that MK1 will end being less favorable than MK11, a game that I truly think was low effort and yet made all the money and dominated all the tournaments when it was active

There's at least one saving grace in all this... I'll never be shy of lewd costumes and skins for Ashrah.

I actually picked up the game too recently and got KP 1 and 2 for a huge discount. Sucks to see the game end support so soon, as the gameplay is pretty fun and there's way too many classic characters missing/not playable.

that said, this is pretty much just MK1 with new skins and all the DLC bundled together at a more reasonable price, not bad but this does mean no more balance patches or system changes, so the version of MK1 we have now is pretty much it

Shame since Khaos Expansion must not have met expectations.
Then again, NR has done a complete edition for MK and IN.
Haven't played this game btw, I only heard it wasn't as good as the others. Seems 11 had more support.

11 definitely got more support, that said 11 catered way harder to the casual market so naturally it had a longer lifespan, MK1 imo has superior gameplay but it fumbled on basic stuff like online modes and training options, and the assist mechanic did not go well with the casual playerbase, and unfortunately casuals carry MK

This Christie RQd! Which makes me question. There are people who claimed that their character is higher in the leaderboards than they should. Its been on the rise lately. I call it false advertising. >.<

back when DOA6 came out one thing I complained about was how Nyo was given all these fancy new tools but none of them fixed her core issues, but now that I've being playing DOA5 a lot recently, I think I have to retroactively eat my words

Camel. All I want is a 360T command spd instead of a 1T! Thats all. I have been wishing for this since the Nyo Geo first came out as dlc! Its not fair! Bass has Victory Bomb, Bass Bomber, and F5! While Ryu has Izuna Drop and P+K, PP, 360T! Hayate has....well...HE IS HAYATE! >.<

the fact that her piledriver is a low throw is very weird, definitely gives it less use cases than other characters pile driver, but it made more sense back in ultimate when it a 2T command and was i7, but then Last round came out and now it's a 1T command and has 3 more frames of start up, granted she now has proper i5 2T like everyone else but the animation is nowhere near as cool :(

so you're going through the throws by using the stat up frames of the kick cancel and then punishing the throw attempt, did I get that right?

@Camel with 2 thumbs It's because of DOA's system where the input of an attack is still considered attacking while dodging the throw. Only benefit is if they went for the attack, you can block in time. OHs diminished the trick however which makes sense.

The Jacky one with Tina however, I genuinely do not know lol.

I think they could pull something spectacular off with Kasumi or Ayane, and I don't think they would choose Hayabusa if I was to really engage with the hypothetical; he seems a bit too similar to Kage and Master doesn't think Hayabusa would work in other fighting games outside of DOA.

I’ve had a few people ask me what my rebuttal to Emery will be and the real truth is I don’t have a problem with him, I have admiration for what he does.

I felt like he overdid it with Crazy and I felt like I issued the same sort of response to defend him. Unless things are taken to the next level I have no rebuttal for Emery. Otherwise let’s move on and continue to support the game.
