that's a fair observation, the cast of DOA aren't exactly bursting with dynamic personalities, everyone's kinda just a shallow one note character that are designed to be visually appealing, doesn't stop ppl from getting attached though

Definitely. I'm not saying any of the characters I played were any better when it comes to personality. A while ago I noted that the only character I played that even had a distinct personality was Nyotengu, and that says a lot.

I just feel like for your main girl you need to do better, honestly. Now I haven't seen the DOA6 story at all but from the stories I did play Kasumi always left a lot to be desired.

it's funny cause Nyotengu is one the few characters where you can infer their personally just from her in game animations alone, no story or cutscenes required, hell she didn't have a presence outside of gameplay in DOA5 but just from playing her you could tell exactly what kind of person she was

I agree in the beginning but as of DOA5 I don't think she could be boring at all, she's now willing to fight and has shown that she's both mentally and physicallly capable of being a major threat. Plus there's even more boring characters like Nyo, Honoka, Marie, and pretty much anyone that isn't Ayane or Hayabusa, and Nico has some potential xD

Kasumi is just a victim of bad story writing. It was a great story as her beginning. But since Itagaki left along with his team, her story never was able to develop properly. Itagaki stated somewhere that for DOA5 he would turn the DOA series into something more dark. He would focus more on Ayane, Kokoro and DOATEC. He would move on from the clones.

I think Kasumi would fit in that storyline he envisioned just right. Kasumi is boring because the current writers don’t know how to develop the stories from the characters. They’re just too busy with trying to sell costumes, than to make the characters actually likeable. It’s no coincidence that every character after 4 lacks depth to them.

Lisa should be the protagonist.

The only characters after DOA4 that got some depth to them are Nyo, Nico and Rig. The rest that has been added are extremely stale. I know people don’t like NiCO but she’s at least in terms of personality interesting.

He was a meme, but at least he had an in game personality that lined up with who he was in the story, which is more than I can say for most doa characters, but at least in doa they (mostly) avoid the cardinal sin of making who a character is in gameplay and who they are In the story 2 completely separate entities, which is kinda the problem with Kasumi

In the story She's supposed to be this renegade ninja who's forced to partake in battles against her will, but in the game she's just kicking ass with no shred of regret or remorse, which makes the whole "reluctant warrior" angle ring hollow

Isn't that just boring in itself? The main character of a fighting game doesn't wanna... fight? I guess it could work if you're going the darker route like @Onryoki says and go for some Shinji get in the robot plot.

Dan Hibiki has a better story plot in Street Fighter

CW2T is probably oblivious as always but Kasumi has actually overcame the reluctance to fight since DOA5 but I don't expect much from him xD

Main character of a fighting game who doesn't want to fight, giving me Soul Calibur 5 Pyrrah vibes. I know everyone hated her but i'll give the game credit, her personality (as grating as it was) shown through with her moveset and in game animations

I guess that's one benefit to having a personality deficient cast, you never run the risk of them annoying your players lol
