Soul Calibur Thread

The genderlock is really annoying to me too since it just stopped people from being creative. That and they need to fix how ridiculous the loose clothes look. If you put a coat on the character it sticks out like 1 foot from the character!

Man, that sucks! I also don't like how the belts and various other waist equipment seem to hover over the person's torso instead of tightly clinging to it, that's always annoyed me. And I hardly equip hats because the game does this weird thing where if your character has straight cut bangs, it'll either laminate them and make them appear thin and choppy, or it'll just completely omit them and leave the fighter's forehead exposed. As a person who fancies the fairy curls and bobcut hairstyles, its an annoyance...I just now started using the lili style small top hat instead in the extra equipment section to counter the issue.

Lynette was the best shopkeeper. I had the biggest crush on her when I first got the game in middle school. Valeria was too sultry, and Hualin was your vanilla basic Japanese shopkeeper chick, so she was not as memorable to me. I felt really sad when I bought all the clothes items because that meant no more Lynette.

Was Lynette the one with the tambourines? Either way I also liked the shopkeepers. And randomly Raphael's two assistants from SC4... To bad he killed them, but at least Amy pushed him off a ledge after that.

Yeah, she was the one with the tambourines, I loved how Heather hogan voiced her. And Raphael's servants were awesome, I loved how his ending showed them all serious, but if you watched them closely in the background, they kept blinking nervously and Marienbard at one point stopped the pink haired girl from grabbing his rapier when he tossed it to the side. It was a shame they went out so quickly, they were probably the best NPCs within the game in comparison to the various other ones that pop up....wait! The best one was the kitty costume girl who pops up every five floors in the tower mode's descend mode. She was irritating to fight against because of that magical sausage ivy weapon and that evil sword berserk thing she had going one.

... I doubt it but Is Heather Hogan related to Hulk Hogan?

And yeah the assistants managed to show a lot of character and personality in the very short time they appeared in the story for. Even though Raphael killing them so suddenly really made me dislike him! I actually liked how even though they didn't have time to create completely unique looks for the dozens of minor characters they still went to the effort to include them as custom characters in story mode etc.

IKR, their looks really did make them look like they were part of the main story. The thing that kind of weirded me out is how Heather voices both Amy and Marienbard, but it's excusable since alot of the Cas voices were used for even the bonus characters. Plus the game was kind of rushed, it had a lot of content cut, which I guess is why they set the story mode up the way they did, and then they used that stall mode Tower of lost souls to keep the player occupied. I'm to this day stuck on one of the floors, because they give you only a couple seconds to beat these AI that love to block and guard impact AND throw escape...

Lol I looked at her IMDb page and I can confirm for myself she isn't related to Hulk Hogan ( and if it somehow turns out she is then oh well! ) I also saw that she voiced Kokoro as well as Amy and Viola. And yeah years ago I got stuck on a floor I think and just stopped.

Yeah the mode is not fun on harder levels, no man's land and Uber airhead were two floors that took a while to complete. I gave up on one floor because online guides said I had to use Segfreid and Yun seong, or other characters I had no skill with to beat it since they specialized with certain things to overpower the AI. I'm sorry, but I'm not using someone I have no skull with to beat a floor.

I agree, it was just lacking in overall offline content. SC3 will always be the best in the series to me. So many options, mini games, modes....it was addictive. I only like SC4 because Amy and Sophie were in the game, and Stephanie Sheh's was goddess incarnate.♡ And the Bgm and stages for all the games were always A-1.

3 was great, but they really sacrificed gameplay for content and that didn't sit well with me because the fixes they did were only available through an arcade version.

SC4 is my favourite currently even though SC3 arguably did story mode better and SC5 has better customization I always go back to SC4. At the sametime though I probably have played SC5 more at this point because I make far yo many original characters. That really is the main thing I'm excited for in SC6 but I do still want good stages and my favourite characters back with great new outfits. Not to mention the new characters!

4 was nice too, but sometimes it felt like playing in poop.

SCV is a great game for what it was.
True, its just that what it was, might as well have not been called Soul Caliber since it was missing half the characters people played for.

Anywaus I tried to do a sketch of my girl but don't like how it came out. Was using her in game model and official art as references and mixing the two is...odd results.

Its crap yeah but its still rare to see any art of her so whatever. I'll try again when I'm actually in a drawing mood
I'd like a female (or a male) fighting with her (or his) hair, like Midna and Bayonetta. Magic.

Guilty gear has that.

That is not crap, it's actually better than you think it is. I love how you drew the hairstyle.

I hope they add an African American girl with a buzzed low haircut somewhere along the line. I've been playing Saints Row 3, and I'm surprisingly infatuated with this STAG army girl named Kia....her character type is normally not the one I like at all, but I enjoyed her as an antagonist.

Her eyes in the official art are definitely a lot more futher away from each other. With her hair the main difference seems to be big strands going in front of her face aren't there in game.

Edit: Yeah I definitely want a native American or African woman as a playable character. Even if I've made like a dozen original characters who are African I'd like an official character.

Thanks. That hair is hard to draw.

But for your suggestion id rather she actually be African, rather than american.

Not just that in her art she's got more of a wild child, feral look to her, whereas in game she looks like a regular cute little girl

Oh, I'm slow! I just realized us Africans were still in Africa around this time, so really African Americans didn't exist at all.

When does the soul calibur series take place have they mentioned the exact date? I feel like I remember something about the 17th century.
