Man, the Sarah hate is so real! Seriously, I'm going to sit down with Hayabusa sometime and just work out his anti-Sarah tech. I swear it must exist. It's true that he doesn't have one of those obvious tools against her that makes the reads pretty easy, even though he can Izuna drop her out of her high punches, I think? (Never underestimate that)
If there's one person who doesn't underestimate izunas, it's this guy.

Hey, if you want to plunge into the nightmare and see if you can try and save me from it, by all means. I'll take whatever help I can get.

Will do! Should be a fun project.

I feel like people are overrating Sarah a bit too much. Don't get me wrong, she has her bullshit but she isn't THAT good. Her spacing is horrendous, holds and throws aren't all that good, she doesn't track too much, and she is very crushable because of her more straight forward moves. All three of those can be abused by Christie, Ayane, Lisa, Hayate (arguably), hell even Tina can abuse those 3 against her. Sarah is also lightweight meaning she can be juggled pretty good (even though her juggles themselves be on some ridiculous shit.) I think the biggest or one of the main reasons people have trouble with her is her mostly her frames and scary pressure and momentum. Yes she has her obnoxious plus frames and pressure but just try to space a Sarah player out one time. Watch how different they play. Spacing alone can really fuck Sarah over completely just as it does for Helena. The reason I believe Christie has the best chance against her is because Christie seems to be the best to abuse her flaws against her very easily. I'm not saying Sarah is bad, which she is nowhere near, I'm just saying she has flaws that fuck her over completely.

I honestly don't understand why people act like she can't be touched. She is definitely one of the better characters but IMO she isn't in the top 3 or 5. I only think her safety and pressure is the main things keeping her afloat.

VF characters in general have trouble in space but Jacky actually has whiff punishers.

Well a lot of my frustrations come from the perspective of the MUs that I personally get to deal with (Ryu v Sarah & Ryu v Gen Fu).
So I can't say for Sarah v Gen Fu at large who the stronger character is when pitted up against the full roster at large (I actually am inclined to think it's Gen Fu), but for Hayabusa, it's Sarah.

Go ahead and pick up Hayabusa, and then go and fight a high/top-level Sarah. You'll learn quickly.

What ever possessed you to put "only" before "safety and pressure" in a game where safety and pressure dictate the overwhelming majority of MUs?

Akira has great spacing when played correctly.

Sarahs safe but her + generally comes from highs and she doesn't have that much tracking. Her pressure without + is relatively short and telegraphed as well as steppable; It's just online makes it hard to deal with because it turns her 6KP from -3 to +3 and EVERY SARAH PLAYER THINKS THAT MOVE IS ADVANTAGE ON GUARD. You should not be getting counterpoked after taking a 6KP from Sarah unless your character is full of 14i and slower pokes / mids.

Sarah, the antichrist.

No. I do agree with you that the MU is in Sarah's favor but I don't believe she just shits on him completely. Playing ballr for so long, he seems to know his way around Sarah. You don't have to agree but I believe if Ryu plays the spacing game, he can at least give her difficulty. Trust me, I get tore up when ballr spaces me out if I'm Sarah (not calling myself to player but still it works very good). Ryu also has superior holds and throws that either do much damage or give him a juggle opportunity. He also has better use with the environment.

I'm well-aware of what Hayabusa's advantages are. His range options should only be giving you trouble if he has more health and you are forced to move in. That will be tricky for Sarah. But that doesn't happen so much do to Sarah's pressure ability and DOA's "run up and invade your opponent's personal space before the match starts" mechanic (in addition to her disregard for WU Ks and the like). If Sarah has the health advantage and Ryu is forced to move in, it's very tricky for him. If you're getting blown up by it all the time, then you're getting intimidated and making premature actions. If you're patient, his options to move in are very risky and certainly not compensating for what he lacks in CQ.

and DOA's "run up and invade your opponent's personal space before the match starts" mechanic

I fucking hate this mechanic. It undermines the neutral spacing game, and allows fast close range characters such as GenFu or Pai to get in your face immediately without working for it at the start of rounds. It just seems way too biased towards certain characters.

Honestly, they don't look all that different.

Gen Fu, Sarah and Ayane are at the top of each and Eliot is at the bottom.

Out of curiosity, why is Ayane at the top of both lists? Is she really the "best" character in the game?

I feel Sarah is kind of like Makoto in 3S, where she's really amazing, but the other top tiers all happen to wreck her. She's fantastic against the average character, but put Sarah against Gen Fu, Leifang, Christie, or Ayane and she has a really tough time.

EDIT:

Okay, legit, I think the EH tier list is more accurate than this one. The only major changes I'd make would be to move Hitomi, Akira, and Bayman up.
