There are characters out there more bad-ass than Ryu, but not many.

And he's not a ninja... we've been through this so many times. He's a super ninja, and he'll do whatever the fuck he wants with his practiced skill.

No one is more badass than Ryu Hayabusa. No one.

As was said before, Ryu is just trolling in DOA. It would only take one inferno ninpo, piercing void etc. to annihilate any of them. Ryu is canonically much more powerful than Ayane, or really anyone for that matter.

No. Most of us like to pretend that doesn't exist since it's lame and non-canon.

Momiji is obviously a good deal weaker than Ryu. Ayane deliberately waits in NG for Ryu to come through and do everything, plausibly because she knows she would be unlikely to succeed on her own (and doesn't even risk helping Ryu fight, for that matter, even when he's been cursed twice). Hayate, as you mentioned, is also weaker, and after Dimensions I'm quite convinced that Kasumi is drastically weaker also. In the DOA universe, there really isn't anyone "close to Ryu's level."

In conclusion: in DOA land, Ryu is the top of the food chain. If you want to speculate on cross-universe battles, Kratos and Dante could be a challenging fight. Ultimately, I'd give it to Dante, who posses the speed/agility of Ryu and the strength of Kratos.

1) Ken Ogawa is more badass than Ryu Hayabusa. Ryu rides and crashes a zeppelin after cutting some fat guy with his sword. Ken deflected energy attacks with his ravestick tonfas, rides his own shuriken like a hoverboard to land on a plane, does a Sonic Spin inside of a Hydra's mouth while on said plane, kills hydra, then catches and slows said plane during its crash using his bare strength and tonfas. He also crushed a giant, building sized demon spider with a wrecking ball. with his BARE HANDS. And rode a motorcycle (not even a crotch rocket, it was an old school moto!) UP RAINING CAR DEBRI before turning it into a high explosive! Ryu ain't got shit on that. He's just a chump with a sword in comparison!

2) Movie talk. Yes movie was terrible and non canon and totally OOC. EXCEPT for the part I'm talking about. Leon, who most everyone will agree was depicted perfectly (Aside from just stopping fighting so Kasumi can win for plot reasons). He WRECKED dat ninja bitch.

3) No magic, no weapons. I bet that Leon (and Bayman and Mila) would BREAK Ryu. (You can hear bones breaking with every strike Leon throws out). All they'd need is to get ahold of him once.

With magic and weapons, yeah, Ryu is OP in DOA. But as a fighter? He'd outclass most of the cast, but then a few would outclass him.

The way I see it, the tiering for the Ninjas is:

Ryu >>> Hayate > Ayane => Momiji > Kasumi

I honestly think Kasumi is the weakest. Couldn't care less that she beat Ayane in DOA2. That was a long time ago.

The doa movie doesnt count.

Ryu is just too strong for normal humans to fight, his strength is on the level of kratos from god of war, he can parry attacks from gigantic statues with a sword. Plus there is his ninpo and ninja skills. Leon and bayman are on the level of the mooks he faces in ninja gaiden.

Key point. He can parry attacks from gigantic statues with a magical dragon sword. Could he do it with his bare hands? I THINK NOT! But LEON COULD! (Ryu HIMSELF ain't that strong. Opening level before he got the Dragon Blade showed that. It's all the magical spells and equipment that gives him power)

And please...if Leon were playable in Ninja Gaiden 3, it would turn into a game that more resembles Splatterhouse.

Wasn't asuras wrath a big qte showcasing how angry the main char can get? I watched a vid and that's all I saw lol. Just rage and button mashing.

NO. It was just pure RAGE. If you pay close attention, his roars of anger are actually making the buttons on the controller mash THEMSELVES out of terror. The game truly does play itself. It's like an Ouji board, but PURE RAGE instead of anything supernatural.

He actually didn't have the dragon sword during that point, he had the blade of the archfiend.

And no, Ryus strength doesn't just come from magical means. The majority of the time he isn't really even using magical weapons besides the dragon sword, and not even at full power. Ryus strength is a combination of his bloodline, experience, and training.

If Kratos & Ryu do their magic/ninpo powers they become invunerable to attacks and lets not forget that multiple enemies doesn't stand a chance against Kratos if he unleash his rage of Titans/Gods. Now as for Dante I can't say too much about him because I had never experience the DMC series except the demo, but I can tell that Dante had no problems killing the big and bad enemies by intentionally making them fall hard like a bunch of pussies lol.

Ryu rode a motorcycle out of a giant, burning megaplane that he destroyed using only his strength and sword, and has destroyed many other flying shit things with his super ninpo. He also tricked someone into thinking a log was a person.
Ryu is more badass than Ken Owannabe. No question.

Well considering that Ryu can use the Shoho Izuna to literally break peoples heads into tiny chunks of meat and could push off the strength of the giant Canna Goddess I would say Leon, Bayman and especially Mila would be like fighting paper airplanes for Ryu. He would crush them all without breaking a sweat.

It seems to me that Kasumi is actually a better fighter, but she hesitates/holds back more than Ayane, which could potentially give her the edge. I like Ayane better so it's tough saying that, but looking at canon victories and the such, Ayane does seem weaker.

Fun fact: Ryu can heal, Kratos can escape his own death and would come back more powerful and more pissed off then they were before.

Well, GoW2 is awesome. 1 I'm very mixed on.

When I finish GoW3, I was considering doing a write-up comparing each game in the NG, GoW and DMC series as well as comparing them all as a whole (listing pros and cons of each and the such) if anyone would be interested in that.
