Ryu rode a motorcycle out of a giant, burning megaplane that he destroyed using only his strength and sword, and has destroyed many other flying shit things with his super ninpo. He also tricked someone into thinking a log was a person.
Ryu is more badass than Ken Owannabe. No question.

Well considering that Ryu can use the Shoho Izuna to literally break peoples heads into tiny chunks of meat and could push off the strength of the giant Canna Goddess I would say Leon, Bayman and especially Mila would be like fighting paper airplanes for Ryu. He would crush them all without breaking a sweat.

It seems to me that Kasumi is actually a better fighter, but she hesitates/holds back more than Ayane, which could potentially give her the edge. I like Ayane better so it's tough saying that, but looking at canon victories and the such, Ayane does seem weaker.

1) Rode a motorcycle out of a giant burning megaplane that he destroyed using only his strength and sword? YAWN. Ken rode a motorcycle up/down exploding TRAFFIC being launched up by a giant demon worm! And Ken tricked hiw own dad into thinking HE HAD A CHANCE!

Ken got style. After playing ninja blade and all that crazy awesomeness, everything Ryu does just looks lame in comparison lol.

2) Nah, Leon's still stronger. "Strongest Man in the World", remember? You know what would happen realistically if Ryu tried an izuna drop on Leon? Something along the lines of this! (Hint: Ryu is Kinnikuman here, and Leon is Buffaloman!) REVERSAL DUE TO SUPERIOR STRENGTH!

3) Yeah, Ayane's easily the weakest in terms of pure power. However she also seems to be the only one who can actually be stealthy. So while she may be the weakest fighter, she is the better ninja.

(Not having a serious argument, just having fun)

but Ayane defeated that super powered brainwashed mask wearing father figure, Genra. Wasn't he the strongest of the Hajin-Mon sect? and isn't Hajin-mon the dark backbone and special opts of the Mugen-Tenshin??

Yeah, which explains why he couldn't win in a straight fight: He's the leader of the STEALTH section lol. That ain't his style at ALL! They threw Sam Fisher in heavy armor with a lance. The hell were they expecting to happen?

Vaguely related to Ayane. Did anyone else find it weird for her to be wearing the "typical teen" white teddy lookin hood outfit in the story of DOA5. Yaknow, when she's on the chopper waiting for Zack and Hayate?

I just can't see AYANE really dressing as a regular civilian like that. Not in-story anyway (Bonus costumes are fair game, but actual, in-story outfits? The hell?). Does their ninja village even HAVE an old navy or wherever they get their jeans?

Lol. I can't see a bunch of stealth assassins and ninpo specialists running around the forest in clothes from the GAP or Old Navy.

... Oh... wait. :(

Sanity has gone a long way down if you're representing it these days

I tell ya h'wut.
That low level of sanity is still better than the stupidity you spoke.

... Santa outfits at least come in 3 different types for females and are also for males. Males have swituits in DOA5, not in any other DOA.

Males aren't getting their fair share costume wise, but it's much better in DOA5 than any DOA before.

You essentially said DOA5 has better costumes than any previous iteration of DOA...

Okay I think that some people didnt beat Ninja Gaiden Black and cry and try to make ryu bad because of that. LMAO really. As I said before why many people likes Ryu. Sorry but thats enough: Bitch Please : Ryu is the strongest NINJA of all time. I played Ninja Blade too and this game sucks. This ken fought only cheap enymies and screw up if you fail by quick time events. Ryu went to hell and fucked every single badass demons and killed 2x the same Boss like VVolf, Elizabeth, Zed and Alexei but I only say Ninja Gaiden 2 Chapter 10 the temple of sacrifice.

God of War is a badass fucking game and Kratos I have no words for his badass character. Kratos and Ryu = every is fucked. Devil May Cry 3 and 4 is one of the best Action game with really cool combos. Devil May Cry 1 and 2 = are action but more in direction to Hack n´slay. Devil may cry reboot = emo cuck sucker.

We talk talk but forget what the real topic here is. :hayabusa:

A few more throwbacks would have been nice, but DOA5 with DLC is easily the best.

I'm the other way around.

God of War, the first game, bored me enough that I stopped halfway through, haven't played a god of war since. Ninja Gaiden was great, but then Ninja Gaiden 2 was just...Ninja Gaiden again. Nothing really worth mentioning in that game. Never bother buying 3, the demo sucked.
But Ninja Blade? That and Metal Gear Rising are my two top "Action ninja" games. Ninja Blade is like a cross between Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry, and it never looks back. So much awesome.
DMC3 was great, but DMC4 sucked (Play as Nero! THen play the exact same game again in reverse order as Dante, except the enemies are designed to be fought with Nero's grappling ability!)

Ryu just feels so BLAND after playing MGR:R and NInja Blade. After that, he JUST feels like "a guy with a sword". Never quite measures up to the amount of badass that Ken and Raiden are.

...hehe. Ryu and Ken.

lol I C wut U did there

Honestly, I would give it another shot if I were you. I was the same way, and found GoW1 kind of a pain in the ass. Not super interesting, inconsistent, horribly designed combat, horrible graphics (even for the time), etc.
But I stuck with it and am very glad I did because God of War 2 is an excellent game. Try it if you get the chance.

Ninja Gaiden was great, but then Ninja Gaiden 2 was just...Ninja Gaiden again. Nothing really worth mentioning in that game. Never bother buying 3, the demo sucked.
Ninja Gaiden: Black was a masterpiece. So was 2, albeit it took a different approach and wasn't as complete/refined as Black. 3 was absolutely horrible. Razor's Edge is good, but for very different reasons and imo doesn't touch the first two games.

Ninja Blade [...] top [...] "Action ninja" [game].
ROFL

DMC3 was great, but DMC4 sucked (Play as Nero! Then play the exact same game again in reverse order as Dante, except the enemies are designed to be fought with Nero's grappling ability!)
DMC4 is good when you're being Dante. It's a shame they did that whole Nero shit and shafted Dante with backtracking. Could've been a lot more fun than it was.

Ryu just feels so BLAND after playing MGR:R and NInja Blade. After that, he JUST feels like "a guy with a sword". Never quite measures up to the amount of badass that Ken and Raiden are.
Hayabusa is the Ninja that makes all other ninja shit their pants and die. There's nothing bland about that, imo.

And that was a terrible comeback, Mr. Literal.
I thought we joked each other for the hell of it.

[Its literally like 40 percent the reason I ever quote you. Its amusing.]

And DOA5 kinda irks me with its attempt at some of its throwbacks. I think paying attention to detail is my fault with the game.
For instance, Leifang's leather shorts and jacket costume. The material somehow seems too thin and cheap looking as opposed to how it looked in DOA3. She also didn't get the matching throwback hair (you know, with the bang and ponytail). Big disappointment for me. Its as if it almost ruins the purpose of the throwbacks entirely. As if they should've left them alone if they couldn't deliver quality over quantity. Things just start to feel half-assed when they throw in requests that people had to ask for and it can clearly be seen that effort wasn't put into it. These throwbacks ought to look exponentially better with the graphics provided (kay maybe not exponentially). Not to say they didn't work hard and also deserve some appreciation... but was it the best they could do?
I also know Team Ninja is capable of amazing detail, colorful environments, textures, etc., ... or did that part of the team leave with Itagaki?

Overall, previous iterations paid more attention to detail. Did you know thighs jiggled in DOA3? [It can clearly be seen while blocking and crouching down with Leifang in her leather getup.]

The little things we wouldn't notice all add in to make an experience more alive and satisfying. As a sequel to this franchise, I think DOA5 fails in this department. And with the questionable solidity of the fighting system in place, its hard not to begin noticing other things that are questionable and lacking.

[Toward the end of writing this, I began to ponder interesting things... Was this turn away from aesthetics our fault? Did we pressure them before launch too greatly to focus on the fighting system.. that they were strained elsewhere and this was the result?
Hmm plausible I guess, but sad story, if so.]

In DOA3 they had about 2-3 costumes. There's more characters and variety of costumes than before, which means more fans to please.

They focused more on detail in DOA5 than before. Each character has a distinctive body and face now. No longer do the females share the same model, slightly altered with a different hair style. Male or female, detail oozes out of every pore, literally at times.

Nostalgia is a very hard thing to get over, we always remember things better than they were. Team Ninja can not compete with that, no one can.

I would way rather have a DOA throwback outfit than a super-detailed santa suit.

DOA2U had the best balance of costume number and selection. DOA5/5U may have more costumes for certain chars and they may be more detailed, but the choices themselves are far worse to me and many others.

More variety I agree.
There are some exceptions in detail I think suffice. I love Helena's new main.
But I've been very picky with the DLC I've purchased. This fan is not pleased and according to a reliable source (Rikuto), not many fans in the West are pleased with the DLC costumes.

The change in character models is one of the MAJOR pluses I have with DOA5. Most of the models transferred beautifully, with the exception of me wishing Team NINJA would've been more adamant and steadfast about their original, more realistic intentions in design (Alpha and Beta character models). I always wished the females had a more distinct design, ever since I saw Ayane in Ninja Gaiden 1. The men seemed to have more distinction than the girls.

Nostalgia is a very hard thing to get over, we always remember things better than they were. Team Ninja can not compete with that, no one can.

While I do agree nostalgia cannot be matched, that's not what's creating this feeling of lackluster in me. Some series succeed in revitalizing nostalgic experiences. I think SF4 and MK9 did a good job. There are games that are current gen and give me the feeling of immersion due to detail. The Uncharted Series does this well for me. Now I wouldn't expect any fighting game to give off that much detail in comparison, but I feel DOA would be the closest due to the environments and tiers.
Perhaps it is my high expectations that curse me with DOA5, but I can't help but feel they could've done much better.
