a normal karate fighter win easily against an actual ninja that can even fricking teleport? in her dreams lol

this must be the most random request i’ve seen about this game so far
He’s probably one of those titty warriors. He’s also very eager to see Hitomi’s tank top wet in all the variations to see how see through it is... man, I don’t get why people like that even join this forum, lol.

Just read my rebuttal post from @Brute, it was meant to be more for you anyway, just had it tagged to Brute for some reason.

Not to add to the derailment, but do we want Raidou and Genra to be real threats or what? Raidou came in and manhandled both Ayane and Hayate and whatever other parts of the village during his original excursion. He already had Taskmaster powers, and was apparently powered up even further by DOATEC. And then Kasumi, a plucky teen with gumption, was supposed to win...by herself? Who does she think she is? Cassie Cage? lol

Maybe Ryu could've sat out the Genra fight, and they should probably do something about Ryu's OP-ness overall, but I have no problem with Kasumi and Ayane needing some backup in general.

Cassie Cage vs. Shinnok should've been Cassie/Jacqui/Jin/Takeda vs. Shinnok wish Cassie landing the final blow. There. I fixed MKX's story. lol

You can make them threats without needing more people to defeat them or diminish the girl's own accomplishments.
It'll be like Ryu needing Rachel and Momiji to defeat the final bosses of each of his latest games, would that make the bosses look good or just make Ryu's accomplishments seem that much weaker.

The Cassie vs. Corrupted Shinnok I agree with but that's a hilariously bad example considering even Johnny defeating Shinnok was just too damn much considering he's a Fallen Elder God and should more powerful than practically everyone in the room, let alone Corrupted Shinnok.

Heck, you don’t see them adding people to help Hayabusa defeat the Tengu either. It’s a bad idea all around to diminish Kasumi and Ayane’s accomplishments with a dude showing up to hog the win.

Also Kasumi in particular needs to have a couple major feats to justify DOATEC’s relentless interest in cloning her. In the logic of DOA, Kasumi needs to be the most powerful ninja, or at least the one with the most potential.

As overpowered as he is (especially with the retcons), you gotta wonder why nobody ever even attempts to clone Hayabusa or steal his moves. It creates a lot of plot holes.

Hayabusa can't be cloned since its impossible for him to be captured since he's the ultimate ninja xD Donovan could try but Hayabusa won't ever be captured since he's well established to be the ultimate ninja.

Kasumi was captured and cloned since I suppose since DOATEC saw she had defeated all the fighters in DOA1 including Raidou, they figured she would be the best test subject since even Ayane lost to Kasumi which makes sense because Kasumi was the best fighter in the tourney at that point, Ein/Hayate and Ryu didn't enter the tournament at that point but I bet money that if Hayate had won since he's physically stronger than Kasumi, he would have been cloned instead if he was able to be captured, Ryu would have never been captured. But in the retcon the way they captured her seemed to make sense since they were able to capture her during the chaos of the explosion after fighting Raidou.

The final boss of DOA5 does copy some of Ryu's techniques, and in Ninja Gaiden 3, the Epigonos was a pseudo-clone of Ryu using his DNA.

DOATEC is either too amateur to have any success with that, or (more likely) Donovan has a personal stake with the Mugen Tenshin clan specifically.

That proves my point, though. Hayabusa’s retconning and general overpowered-ness creates plot holes. If you have to come up with extra-canonical explanations or pull from outside games to explain key story points and character decisions, that’s generally a plot hole.

Also, the explanations we’re left with aren’t great. Either

1) DOATEC is incompetent and/or small potatoes for focusing on the “weaker” Ninjas instead of Hayabusa. Not a good look for a series antagonist. Or

2) There is an unexplained fixation DOATEC has on Kasumi’s clan that hasn’t been explained for over five installments. Again, not very smart to not explain that for over five games.

Hayabusa’s overpowered nature has always been somewhat troublesome, but Dimensions made it way worse, and at the expense of the series’ protagonist.

So to be clear, your argument has changed from "his interactions with and effects on other characters aren't up to snuff" into "he's just too strong?"

Being overpowered is just one component of Hayabusa’s problematic inclusion in DOA. My argument has always been that his existence has a derailing effect in DOA (for both being overpowered and not being integrated as a meaningful character), and it was made worse by how Dimensions shoehorned him into it.

I mean, imagine explaining it to someone who’s new to DOA:
“It’s about these magic ninjas from a clan that’s become the target of experiments by an evil corporation who wants to steal their ninja powers. Also they’re friends with an even better ninja from an even more magical ninja clan who can blow up demons with his mind. But don’t worry about him.”

It’s like if Spider-Man had a best friend named Jerry who has all of Spider-Man’s powers and also can fly and shoot lasers out of his eyes, but doesn’t really participate in any story and the bad guys don’t seem concerned with him. That’s bad writing.

To sum up my complaint: Hayabusa is both disproportionately powerful and has never had any real characterization or relationships in DOA. Dimensions tried to give him more to do, but it actually made the problem worse because it just made him even stronger and undercut other characters’ stories.

All I want is for Hayabusa to have some real relationships in DOA and something to do beyond reminding us that he’s a more important ninja than our ninja protagonists. Let him need tournament winnings to open a noodle shop. Have him feud with Nyotengu, who wants to both kill and have sex with him. I still like the idea that Tengu magic has vanished the Hayabusa village, and poor Ryu has to go get a regular job and live in an apartment with Jann Lee.

I complain because I love Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden, but I think he’s always kinda sucked in DOA. But it’s fixable.

I mean that could be true that he has a personal stake with the Mugen Tenshin exclusively but I mean @Brute, the problem is still right there...

The Mugen Tenshin... never really get the chance to show why they are so damn important that Donovan will ignore the Hayabusa Clan for them, ignore Ryu Hayabusa specifically for them despite being shown that Alpha-152 can copy his moves and himself wholesale and like you stated in NG3.

When we have things like Ninja Gaiden for Ryu and the Hayabusa Clan but nothing even as remotely grandiose for the Mugen Tenshin(and I don't mean they need a separate game, even Ryu took down Tengu and he was a worldwide threat and that was in DOA2), it just makes M.I.S.T. just look stupid. Honestly DOA6 needs to answer this question as it always have bugged me at the back of my mind at all times.

By the time this thread gets back on topic, there will be fields of strawmen as far as the eye can see.

So I'm pretty sure the build we've seen around is the final build if copies are being distributed this early.

I still can't believe they didn't change the front cover lol

Like I mentioned earlier, they must've had the game go golden at least over a month ago =p
