Side-effect of a brand selling on its name recognition alone, as well as having reached a place of having no competition. Never considered it from the angle of esports and content creators though, where they might be afraid to shoot down a crappy product because they themselves are relying on it to do well... crazy.

It's big in much of gaming. It's why I've been more exploratory as of late. Not everyone can be Chris Smoove or whoever and it can be costly. Being a content creator takes time, dedication, & even $$ to buy the right products, depending on what you want. Tourney's cost $$ w/ travel, hotel, venue, food, etc if you have to shell for yourself (Learned from FR 2k18). The biggest point I wanted to showcase was....

at the end when he talked about stockholders and the position they have, considering how a lot of people are dedicated to their craft & such. If all else fails, why not figure out ways to invest in stocks for the company so that at least you can get some return. Not that I'm huge in business & such, and I am exploring more into it, but I do think it's a decent idea if all else fails.
Well Capcom Pro Tour today. I doubt my chances of not going 0-2 but the goal is whether I can have fun while going 0-2. If I can, I accomplished my online tourney goal.

Why bother enter tournaments if you feel this way? This is not a way to improve skill....if it was a offline where you can have discussions, then I'd agree to it. However, this does nothing but hurt your morale, especially in a SF game that disrespects the better player's skillset, so, it's more about who guesses right.

It's different if I was to enter tekken from March to July and I felt this way. Street Fighter definitely has it's flaws, but I did learn a bit while playing. Experiencing high level is also important as it helps to consider what's valuable in high level vs casual sets. Coming into SF as a beginner is much more relieving than going as an intermediate and trying to inch in skill bit by bit.

Lastly, it's easier for a beginner to get connections as well. Knowing who some players are allows me to ask questions and watch more people as I pick up things here & there.
When you think Kingdom Hearts can't get any better w/ their music, they come out w/ the JAZZ version of Dearly Beloved!?!?!?!?! Immediate GOAT status. Don't @ me or anything. I'm too busy jammin out right now.

So now there's a Disney's Melodies of Mana to go with the Disney Secret of Mana Collection. I guess they had to at some point.
Finished GranBlue main story for now. If the story was like the bosses, it would possibly be the best game story-wise in the PS4 era. The bosses are really epic and the soundtrack for Yggrasil, Bahomut, Rose Queen and the final bosses are superb. But after that the story's generic but also kinda confusing.

I'm horrid at 2d fighters games XD. It's why I've only been practicing how to do a consistent shoryuken combo. But it's good to explore. And this was only for story mode, which none are obscenely difficult. I looked based off plot, consistency, development, bosses (if any), depth, and possible replay-ability.
    T..J. Bernard
    T..J. Bernard
And bosses sucking isn't based off "oh it's too easy" or "it's too hard." It's based off whether I can get a good challenge from the game w/o it seeming like I gotta resort to a style of play I know I'll never be able to play in any other match. A boss should test my skill, ability, adaptability, and my character growth as well. Which is why GranBlue was mostly solid w/ bosses.

Play SCVI. I found it's Libra of Souls mode just as fun as GBVS' RPG Mode. However, if you want to learn 2D fighters, GBVS is a good start along with SamSho.
If only I could play games just in the learning phase. Being in the learning phase of Street fighter has been some of the most fun, I've had in ages. I wish I could hit the reset button for Tekken, DOA & such. I probably would enjoy those games more than I do now.

Like there's a sense of relief where my goal is to just do as many shoryuken combos as possible and try to punish spiral arrow as efficient as possible versus "I gotta play high-level players all the time and I have to try to find any avenue to improve and anything less, can't play the game."
Grad school starting for me and grinding Ryu/Ken. Went 4-4 today w/ Ryu and 1-3 w/ Ken. Decent day. Capcom Pro Tour soon. Not confident in winning a set, but I'm confident I'll have more fun this time.
Analyzing my tekken progress, I feel my movements been improving significantly on stick and playing Mishimas/Jin fundamentally has been a huge plus for me thus far. Playing fundamental tekken when played right is one of if not the most fun things I can get into. Even if I'm fighting Leroy or Fahk. Zafina, Julia, & Ling's still annoying.

But, with that, Idk if it's because I play Hwoarang and stuff, but whenever I fight another Hwoarang, it's one of if not the top 10 most infuriating match-ups. It's not a idk how to beat him thing. It's more a, I know how to beat him, but I don't execute and his recovery's annoying to deal with online. -2 turn to +2 sometimes online.
    If DOA 6: U comes, here's who I think should be buffed/nerfed.

DOA: I don't really care much. But to give whatever reason I guess, Kula's 6h+k's nuts. Her running throw's nuts. And she's hard af to punish at times so she still needs work. She's not broken but she does need adjusting. Kasumi's 3k's nuts, her 2k's annoying to punish at times, 1k has nut's range, k has really good range, her 6pk's nuts, and playing her in 7 frames of input lag makes her so much better.
    T..J. Bernard
    T..J. Bernard
Which is why before any tuning or adjusting, they need to work on the input delay. If the input delay's adjusted, it's easier to see what should be adjusted and what shouldn't. After that, Idc. They buff or nerf whoever they want. That's just my hopeful as a whatever player if DOA 6: U comes out and whenever season 4, which will suck, comes out.
    DestructionBomb
    DestructionBomb
For DOA, you only need to buff the weaker characters. But to buff the weaker characters, you have to make system improvements to compensate behind it. Otherwise you'll have buffs with no actual priorities if the system doesn't open that gap.
Played through tekken's update. The only thing I liked was the fact that now you can cancel your match in lobby so people don't wait and they see if I'm just not playing. I've been using it a bit ngl. Once I see the wifi indicator, hopefully it'll propel people to get ethernet cables. Can't keep playing 3 bar, pseudo 4 bar tekken. It's un-enjoyable.

After that, the patch is whatever. Zafina I guess is a lil better, which she's still like top 3-5, and Fahkumram's still top 2-5 so still not much interested in Season 4. I heard Jin's staple now don't even work on Fahkumram anymore like that. Idk if anyone even test these things out tbh to have combo's whiffing on Fahkumram of all characters.

In SF, things are progressing, touched on Ryu, Ken, and Akuma and having fun. Still gotta try out Sakura and Kage, but it's been fun playing SF in the dojo. Online getting a lil bit better but the teleporting gotta be worked on.
Learning Ryu's kinda fun ngl on Street Fighter. The only thing that's hurtful's when SF has everyone teleporting. It hurts my eyes literally. Too much flash kinda hurts my eyes. But finally winning casual sets. Not confident in the Capcom Pro Tour but if I can continue improving, hopefully I can at least go 1-2.
Welp, tried to play DOA 6 again after a mean minute. Get beat out of jabbing after -5 6pp from Marie Rose and realize again there's 7 frames of input lag, back to whatever game has esports going on again.

Starting after tomorrow, I guess I'll be doing a mokujin grind for real in Tekken and Street Fighter, as frustrating as that will be. Since for now, the main fg's now are those two, mind as well explore them fully. Everything else, I'll explore w/ the main story characters.
5 ways to assure I don't play a set. in no order:
    1. "My character's better than your character."
    2. "Your character's for mashy players and blah blah blah".
    3. "ft____. Don't be scared."
    4. Come in lobby w/ 3 bars n under.
    5. "I can teach you Hwarang and defense."
    6. "Just try season 3."
    7. "Play Ranked!!!!!!"
    8. "My character's harder than your character."
    T..J. Bernard
    T..J. Bernard
    9. "I have a better Rig than yours. Prove me wrong."
    10. "My wifi's fine. It's your connection."
    11. Rage quitting and finding you again online.
    12. Lose one rematch, win one leave.
    13. Win one rematch, lose one leave.
    14. "You no evo champion. 6 other fighting games I win...."

What a way to get better at fighting games online and grind. 5 literally turned to 14. What a wonderful world. Can't wait to encounter one of 14+ situations that will guarantee I don't want to play another set. But I just have to "play everyone". That's how I get better.
Played a lobby full of 3 bar and under kings, marduks, armor kings, & feng wei's. I've never been depressed about casual online lobby since the last day I played Dead or Alive 6. I even picked Gigas, did 1,2, db 2, df1, and rage drive through 2 games straight and WON........ WON w/ 4 moves and no combo execution whatsoever.....

Went back to some characters I'm learning and it's like I'm walking on legos all over again. Quick match straight cheeks. Everyone 1 n done or super YOLO on 3 bar n under. Rank.........

Got King of fighters XIV. Idk if it's me but going through the tutorial and having a rougher time breaking throws in this than tekken and feeling like there's strict inputs to do crouch dash to 2 qcf inputs is a huge turn off.
    Hold_Junkie93
    Hold_Junkie93
This game is actually one of the easier games to throw tech because of the built-in option select w/the old school input. If they're not close enough, you'll get far C. The thing is that you have get close enough. If you can run people's face, you immediately press Back then C. Cancel the movement w/back input basically. Back throws are with D but no need 2 guess them w/ same button
    Hold_Junkie93
    Hold_Junkie93
    Hold_Junkie93
Once you understand the situations people can throw in, there's a lot of yomi that makes a throw attempt difficult but it's not the throw itself. Just keep the distance in mind and people empty hopping. Throws rare occur in neutral unless someone sneaks run or a roll which if possible, you C. B/A it
The biggest issue w/ why every game now has problems and hate is because there's literally no communication from either party.

GBVS costs $79.99 here, and launched with 12 characters, and had 4 DLC characters that cost $9.49 each within 8 weeks. That's bad value. Samurai Shodown still costs $79.99 with barebones features, godawful online, unimpressive graphics, 16 characters (+2 free) and approx. 7 $7.99 characters. That's bad value.
    Force_of_Nature

As for DOA6, it should've been Free-2-Play from the start like Apex Legends (or **shivers** Fortnite). Making it $64.99-$79.99 here for 2 weeks before Core Fighters wasn't a good marketing move. SCVI cost $79.99 in Oct 2018 and sold Tira Day One for $7.99 instead of a pre-order bonus at least on top of having an awful online experience and unimpressive total content. Not really good marketing or value initially.

However, I understand that FG's are niche when all is said and done and the publisher/developers need to see a return on their investment, but the way how most companies go about it basically ensure that FG's will remain niche, and not move to the next level.
After a month & of no tekken, come back to tekken ranked and.....

Should've been Tekken 8. Drop Season 4. I have very low faith in Tekken 7 at this point. After the online tournament, I'm just mokujin grinding and that's it. No more main grinding. T7 too YOLO for that. If I don't see movement buffs on the 1st day of Season 4, better online netcode, and better rank, Season 4 going in the trash.

On the bright side, I like granblue. Fun solid game. Fun neutral and not very hard execution so far. And signed up for pt 2 of Capcom pro tour. Dropped Balrog, Ed, & Juri. Hopefully Ryu can take me to a 1-2 record at least.
After playing some more story modes so far, If I was to rate the final bosses of each game, it would probably be something like this:
    1. DBFZ: C+
    2. Tekken 7: D+
    3. SFV: B-
    4. DOA 6: C+
    5. MK11: D+
    6. SC VI: C+
Still got GranBlue, BlazBlue, & SamSho to go but thats my ratings so far.
    T..J. Bernard
    T..J. Bernard
Update: Played SamSho boss. That joint another D+. Horrible boss. Can't play her fundamentally, resorted to spamming hard attack and hoping I didn't get hit by any of her half health moves. Horrible.
    T..J. Bernard
    T..J. Bernard
BlazBlue Cross tag a C. Mediocre boss. Was tolerable to play against and having time w/ Ragna helps a lot.
    T..J. Bernard
    T..J. Bernard
Fighting games tbh need to look at some action adventure game bosses and ask them how to create a challenging boss that actually rewards the player and allows them to utilize all they learn to the best of their ability. Either the boss is too easy or unconventional and you end up playing a whole different style than before. KH, Zelda, heck Nioh would be great games to look at for bosses.
Kinda shocked C. Viper wasn't in the joint so far, but can't say the picks were bad. Dan & Rose are good picks. Idk about Oro's lore but it'll be interesting to explore and Akira as well. No complaints on my end.

There's one more character that they haven't revealed yet. With a Rival Schools character making an appearance in SF5, it could really be anyone, it could be another Alpha character, it could be an SF3 character, an SF4 one, a Final Fight character, a Darkstalkers guest, who knows.
Would it be better to build a $500-$600 PC and upgrade as time progresses so I can get the PS5, or would it be better to go all in on the PC and try to build it for next gen and if the parts for PS5 come through for PC, then go for it and wait later for PS5?

it would cost a lot for pc to match ps5 ssd speed
    Seigen
    Seigen
Don't worry about the PS5 SSD speed, it's irellevant until games are developed to take advantage of it (streaming game data from it in real time as you play) and completely irellevant for fighting games; a fast PCIe gen 3 NVMe SSD will be just fine for many years to come, no need to jump on an axpensive gen 4 SSD right now; getting a higher capacity SSD is more important than raw speed.
