As long as Lion is still good (and annoying), I'm good. I tried so many characters, from Vanessa to Aoi to Jacky to Shun Di, but Lion just seems to stick. If I ever decide to pick up another character, I want it to be Shun Di, since he uses Drunken Fist Kung Fu like Brad.

I like how 4KKK is the same. Only time Lion is annoying, VF2 and lag switchers looping 2K+GK.

Anyone down to play VF, still?

When they change versions. Don't they have different combos, and controls/inputs for everyone or am I just thinking about VF5 vanilla being that way when transitioning to FS?
Vanilla to FS is a much bigger change than this will be.

Haha I wouldn't go assuming this patch will be uploaded for console players... but yeah VF will never be popular in its current state. They need to add a story mode and some interesting characters with crazy moves, something to draw kids in. Adults today are playing the fighting games they played as kids

But the beauty of the VF series is that it's a game that focuses on the fighting mechanics and nothing else. Do casuals like this? No, but then again, VF is not really a game one can just jump into. It's simple on the surface, but the more you dive into the experience, the game is one of the most technical and complex fighting games series. There is a story in VF, but Sega decided to put that aside in order to focus on the fighting mechanics.

For any of you Pai and Jacky players out there. Team Pai vs Team Jacky, 5 on 5, one game lost = one player out. There's short random clips of other matches in between a Pai or Jack player getting out of there seat to let the next dude play. So don't be confused when you see different characters for a min. hahah.

The Beat Tribe Cup is streaming live on Twitch right now, for anyone interested. Just type 'Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown' in the game search.

Just to add. This stream/tournament is going to be about 14 hours long. So chances are, if you see this post tonight, it's still going on.

For those of ya who missed some, or all of the tournament. Fear not, for it was all captured and uploaded to youtube by 'oneida'.

With 600 players making 120 teams (each team having 5 players), this was truly an awesome tournament to watch filled with high level play. Like most tournaments with lots of players, not every match can be captured, unless there's multiple streams of the tournament. But each team battle captured, was streamed from beginning to end, making for some intense moments.

Rules are, each team consists of 5 players, each player in the team plays their character of choice with character lock in effect for the whole tournament. When the battle starts, the winner of the match stays until he is beaten and the losing side will decide who on their team will play next. This repeats until all 5 players from one side has lost a match. The battle is over once all 5 players from one side has lost a match.

Here's the beginning of the tournament. First match starts at about 4:00 in.

Definitely one of the highlights of the stream here. The top 16 teams get introduced and walk down the red carpet, being cheered on as a VF theme is played. Making for some funny and just plain awesome moments. No one is safe from the unblockable section at the end of the runway. Starts at 5:00.

*edit* 600 players and 120 teams. Not over 600 and 120 :p
