After a good showing in last years tournament, Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate will once again be a part of The Fall Classic when it returns this October, 2014.

The Fall Classic 2014 will take place at Raleigh, North Carolina on October 10 to 12. In addition to Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate, this years tournament will feature 12 other games.

FSD member and Venezuelan DOA player @Tulkas recently dropped a post that he, along with notable pal @TRI Mike, have both worked up and succeeded on having a few congregated offline DOA gatherings in their small town of Caracas, Venezuela. You can see one of their recent events (pictured above).

The thread, in which Tulkas proudly posts about their accomplishment, has been detailed in both english and spanish (props to him for that), where he mentions and credits the FSD search feature on the site for looking up surrounding...

Posting from the just now complete Official Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Tournament, Hayashi announced that at the end of January there will be a patch to the Arcade version of the game. In February, the consoles will receive said arcade patch sans Marie Rose. Marie Rose will be available on console some time in the spring.

Team Ninja will be hosting the final of their series of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade location test tournaments in their Tokyo office today!

This past weekend of December 6th - 8th in Philadelphia, PA, Sweet Revenge (@SweetRevenge117) took home first place by defeating @XCaLibur BLadeZ at North East Championships XIV (NEC14) in a thrilling tournament filled with many competitive players that were bringing their A game.

Sweet Revenge and XCaLibur BLadeZ first met in the Winners Finals of Top 8. Sweet Revenge continued to use Gen Fu throughout the tournament while XCalibur BLadeZ went with his mainstay ALPHA-152 before switching to Helena. It was clear after two matches that Sweet Revenge had come to NEC14 in preparation against ALPHA-152 and Helena. It's great to see players who will sit in the lab and strategize on a match-up instead of just complaining about "Hacks" or "Ohmaigawd boss character!". Overall though, many, if not all, of the competitors obviously were showing growth from what was seen even a year ago at NEC13 featuring DOA5 and XCalibur BLadeZ's first major tournament...

Last Saturday BOTB4 took place in San Jose, California. Players from different communities in the fighting game scene gathered to compete and play casuals. The event was also a food drive to raise canned goods to donate. While it was not streamed this time around, Capsule Entertainment was on board to record player matches.

Here it is, the first official trailer for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade. The trailer shows off what we've all been waiting for, a first look at Marie Rose in action, giving us a taste of her new Systema fighting style.

Elsewhere, the trailer is just an introduction of the cast thus far for the upcoming arcade release of the game.

The latest famitsu magazine has popped up, revealing the much speculated new character for the Arcade version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate.

The new character, Marie Rose, is a petite blonde Russian fighter, utilizing a fighting style called "Systema".

She is seen in the latest scan, intriguingly, fighting on the classic version of the Lorelei stage without the recent Halloween theme added to it, taking on Helena and straddling Bass in some sort of way.

You can bet we'll all be eagerly awaiting a trailer of this newcomer.

Looks like Tecmo Koei is getting serious about promoting DOA5U competitively in Japan. Alongside the recently announced location test dates for the game's arcade version, TK has announced their official tournament for the game.

Qualifying rounds for the tournament will take place in different arcades throughout Japan staring this November all the way through to January next year.

We are now on the threshold of a new era for the community. After the strong presence of the community at The Fall Classic, and the increasing numbers at the WNF weekly in SoCal, we have shown that we are a growing and supportive community that will still have a ways to go. Now while The 1st Annual Filthy Rich Cup is not a major by any stretch, its still an important moment for the Dead Or Alive community because of the increased interest since TFC. Over in Philadelphia and Jersey, the scene has grown quite a bit due to the showing at TFC and at the Filthy Rich Cup we can begin to gauge how strong that interest really is. So for those who live in the tri-state, you are highly encouraged to show up if possible and not only compete but teach and continue to get these new players to continue to stick with the game. The Fall Classic was our time to shine, now let's go out there and keep it our star shinning.

Here's a chance for folks to make the FGC as a whole aware of your community for Dead Or Alive (5U, 3.1 or otherwise). IPlayWinner and The Show That Sucks is doing a special show for their 50th episode where they will talk about how to get into the FGC and in order to do that we need fighting game communities.

As part of this, they are asking folks to submit their local communities to them for the show. They are looking for any community, no matter how big or how small.

This here is a big opportunity for the any local DOA scenes and the greater DOA community general. Small local communities are the foundation from which the FGC as a whole is built upon.

All you need is the location of your scene and how you communicate, or how someone from the outside can get information such as the time or location of a session or tournament. This can be a website, Twitter account, Facebook page, forum or anything somebody can use to...

If you follow the official Team NINJA Twitter (and you should be), you've likely been seeing their recent teases of an upcoming DLC pack. Previously it was believed to be a Halloween-themed costume pack only, however the most recent pictures take place in a completely new environment (or a very cleverly redesigned one). Some images have popped up showing it to be a Halloween-themed Lorelei, so a major fan favorite should be returning shortly. Check out the images below:




It seems we may be getting a relatively large DLC pack in the very near future. Given the normal DLC release day of Tuesday in North America, we may not need to wait too long to find out. Only a few of those left this month, after all.

1337 Lounge Live is hosting a tournament tonight which is scheduled to start at 7pm PST. The tournament is taking place in Hollywood, California with many of the best players from SoCal's DOA scene competing such as @ikodomo, @HajinShinobi, @Julian Bernard and @Kal-El3291. NorCal players @SomewhatMental and @NukNuks are also set to compete in the event.

If you check out the website you will notice that it is a 24/7 open lobby. There are multiple camera angles to choose from to see all the action. There will also be a Q & A session during the event. Feel free to join the text chat and ask questions to hear the thoughts of the players.

Team Ninja has just announced via their twitter feed that the Ver. 1.02 patch for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate has been officially released.

It doesn't appear that there are any gameplay or specific character changes, however. This patch only appears to address the common online multiplayer issues, sort out costume conditions, and to resolve the act of characters flying in random directions during a match.

This coming weekend (September 13th to the 15th, 2013), the first Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate major will be taking place in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event has over $9000 in prize money being given to the winners of the three Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate events: (1) Friday evening is a 3v3 Team Tournament featuring many of your favorite players duking it out in a team-elimination style format, (2) Saturday starts the Singles Tournament, and (3) Saturday evening during the Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Launch Party (exclusive entry only to those who are in the Singles Tournament), we are doing an Old School vs New School special event where 6 players designated as Old School take on another 6 designated as New School in Team Battle format.

Tecmo Koei released Dead or Alive 5 last year, followed by Dead or Alive 5 Plus for Vita, and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is in stores now. Believe it or not, Ultimate isn’t the final incarnation of Team Ninja’s fighting game. Sega will distribute Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade throughout Japan this winter. It’s based on the console game with one key difference—Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade has Tengu a new character. Tecmo haven’t announced if Tengu this extra character will be available as downloadable content on PS3 and Xbox 360 yet.

You guys don't need a huge article or pretty pictures for this one: Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate has hit retail in North America, with the rest of the world joining in the fun in mere days (with some exceptions). Look for the PlayStation Store digital release, as well as the Core Fighters edition, late this afternoon/early this evening. Also bear in mind that preorder codes for PSN will not be live until that same update so be patient, disc owners.

Now hit the lab, get your friends together, and get to finding some new tech!

While most of us are waiting for a day or two more for Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate to drop, a few lucky souls have gotten their copies early. Happily, a few of these folks (including FSD's very own Jeff "CyberEvil" Rybicki) have been more than happy to create videos for the game.
