DOA6 Graphics Thread

Jann's pants are a black hole, whereas Lisa's pants are taken directly from the surface of a white star. But nah, it looks "good" because apparently "color" is synonymous with a neon Zebra.

Did people forget they can adjust the brightness?
You realize that how effective this is not only depends on the monitor, but also the game being displayed, right? And changing the brightness setting alone won't fix the plethora of the terrible ways that lighting works in game (for example, I can't add shadows to the walls above hanging lamps merely by turning my brightness down).

And even if it was possible to fix the game's visuals by tinkering with my monitor settings, you can be damn sure that offline T.O.s won't be doing it, and expecting me to do it every time I boot up this shitty game and then turn them back when I'm done is a pretty tall order. DOA should be something you can pop into really quick, play a few rounds, then boot it down. It's not like base jumping where you should have to invest a bunch of time and gear into each run.

Now, if the PC version of the game actually had respectable graphical options to adjust these things, that would be nice. But who am I kidding?

DOA5 > DOA6 when it came to that screenshot comparison. The only advantage DOA6 has is updated models/polygon count.
But that lighting and how the costumes react to it is really blinding. The colors seem too over-saturated, I feel nauseous.
Worst offender is this The Muscle and the bottom level of the ship stage.
It looks unfinished and not refined.
I really hope they address the lighting issues... It is a big deal. I'm not complaining about the graphics and I'm willing to look over the lack of costumes... but please... the lighting!
I get they're trying to go down that modern cartoon FPS feel, but TN stahp.

Seriously who approved that? It's too distracting in a fighting game. :tina:
I'm hoping they will address this in a patch.
Very that, I feel like I can’t concentrate on what’s happening in the picture with the brightass shiny characters on a brightass shiny background so my mind just tunes out.

I’m curious how that’ll effect actual gameplay or if I’ll just be able to get used to it

All costumes that come with the game (excluding any preorder costumes or DLC costumes):

They seem to have turned off any kind of antialiasing. Those jaggies are more prominent than ever. Not even the beta looked this bad image quality-wise. :/ Please let this be a bug or something that they are still patching as I noticed it even in the EVO PC version, which should not be plagued by low resolution and aliasing at all.

Edit:
Also there are good news and bad news regarding Eliot's hair...

Good news:
The egghead shape is gone in his DOA5 default wig (still looks awful though):

It now has the same height as his other hairstyle as one can see in the video when the hairstyles are switched.

Bad news:
They reused the already in DOA5 very low resolution and pixelated hair texture...

Well, I won't ever use or even unlock it anyway, I leave that to the people with a lapse of taste.

Wtf, Lisa has no alternate hairstyle??

OK, they weren't kidding when they said 2 costumes for the boys...

In my opinion ... I see few suits (it will be fixed with dlc, but the base game brings less than doa5) and I have barely seen new hairstyles, personalization mode is a progress, but it could has more usefulness

Yeah I'm kinda confused why Ayane and Lisa have no alt hairstyles when they could have brought back the silver hair and Ayanes ponytail etc? Hopefully they'll continue to add more hairstyles in in future updates/dlc or something. They have said they'll add more things to unlock in quest mode didn't they? So maybe they will.

Yep, since the accident the girl is completely bald and under the mask she needs no wig.
Only as Lisa is she wearing one of her two cheap synthetic wigs, lol

That is Lisa's real hair!!

Seriously though I'm happy to see that Lisa's alternate REAL hairstyle is in the game she at least deserved to have her alt from 5 return. Still though more hairstyles being added as time goes on would be cool so I wonder If we'll see that with the other unlockables they add to quest mode.
