People over there complained about Ramlethal and Elphelt the same way people here complained about Nico and the new girls. The new characters were too anime, didn't fit the game, were waifus, were uncreative, were in just to fill a trope, GG never had those elements before, and the original female cast were never anime. That should sound familiar.
now that's some spicy hypocrisy. some of the most vicious waifubabies there were baiken fans, too.
and i think you raise some interesting points here. it's a touchy topic but at some point somebody has to tear down this entire charade.
Why are people only now having an issue with the same face syndrome/ similar body type when it also existed in 5?
confirmation bias. kasumi and ayane are handwaved with "t-they're sisters", other samefaces are conveniently ignored, such as
or pre-5 where everything BOTH face and body looked like kasumi
similar body type shouldn't even be a complaint here because the three have starkly different body meshes (both among themselves and in comparison to THE REST of them which is all minus three and very far from "half the roster")
and i shouldn't have to hear "DOA OR ALIVE IS ALL ABOUT THE BIGGGG TIDDIESSSSSSSS" coming from the forum that regularly mocks people for being obnoxious about the same thing.
How does blue and pink hair not fit or make a character too anime when DOA has purple, red, white, etc?
because anime is a generic word used in place of "bad". my vocabulary is rather limited so i'll just substitute all the adjectives in my sentences with with vague terms like "anime" and its positive counterpart, "mature", since they sound agreeable
*dabs*
in actuality, you aren't going to use a not-stupid definition of the word anime without also shooting multiple other characters in the doa cast in the foot. i honestly don't know why people pursue this roundabout wankery when I HATE BLUE HAIR sounds more like normal human language.
Why does Nico's lightning not fit in DOA when we have ninjas with magic?
the series has been consistent in making 1) non-ninja 2) non-boss 3) non-guest characters NOT have flashy superpowers. it was like this all the way up to marie rose then it's all downhill, though i don't personally like the lightning contributing to that downhill motion it still fits since honoka and nyotengu already broke the rule
Why is the age 18 so bad/creepy now when in DOA1-4 there were multiple characters who were either 18 or younger?
ayane being 14/underaged is fine as long as it has giant tits, because the giant tits make it NOT underaged. conversely, if you create a character that doesn't fit the conventions of what an N-aged fictional person should look like you will never hear the end of it from me, scum. insert here another cheeky fbi/jail joke because in my bizarro alternate universe the law is about the appearance/physique and not about protecting the fucking underdeveloped MINDS
OF REAL PEOPLE
other things i frequently hear are "ugh another X" "reeee do we need another Y!". more baseless tripe when you consider the state of the roster:
three younger
four older
FIVE THOUSAND gravure model bodied schoolgirls
definitely more than three kasumi clones
???
i don't care at all if you don't like [thing], but it's when you bring up "muuuuuuh legacy! muh anime! muh roster! muh again!" and sidestep the actual elephants in the room that everything coming out of your mouth starts having more holes than swiss cheese. stop doing that, thanks.
