    back when DOA6 came out one thing I complained about was how Nyo was given all these fancy new tools but none of them fixed her core issues, but now that I've being playing DOA5 a lot recently, I think I have to retroactively eat my words

    Camel. All I want is a 360T command spd instead of a 1T! Thats all. I have been wishing for this since the Nyo Geo first came out as dlc! Its not fair! Bass has Victory Bomb, Bass Bomber, and F5! While Ryu has Izuna Drop and P+K, PP, 360T! Hayate has....well...HE IS HAYATE! >.<

    the fact that her piledriver is a low throw is very weird, definitely gives it less use cases than other characters pile driver, but it made more sense back in ultimate when it a 2T command and was i7, but then Last round came out and now it's a 1T command and has 3 more frames of start up, granted she now has proper i5 2T like everyone else but the animation is nowhere near as cool :(

    DOA has always been known for it's striking and over the top character design, which is why it blows my mind that a character like Rig even exists on the DOA roster

    To me it was like "let's just say this guy is from Canada, cuz why not?" and "he's named Rig cuz he works on a rig" XD. Where's the cutscene where he chugs some maple syrup, or at least eats a timbit and washes it down with a double double?

    I guess being covered in weird tattoos is supposed to be the most interesting thing about him.

    ah, so Rig (and his castmate Mila) were specifically designed to be "regular people" at least in the context of a DOA game, that very much tracks with what TN was doing at the time because before that they had released Ninja Gaiden 3 which also did the "what if regular everyday people were part of this fantastical game" thing

    DOA English voice acting with regional accents for everyone, could you imagine? Hitomi with a German accent? Kasumi and Ayane speaking engrish? Spanish Mila? oh what we could have had :/

    I've always thought about how awesome it would be if every character in DOA spoke their own native languages and spoke to each other in accented English, I like that effort to provide realism, but I'm just so selfishly in love with Yuko Nagashima's JP voice for Tina that I'd never ask for it to happen XD

    I guess Kasumi and Ayane speaking "Engrish" would go somewhat like this. As for 2HC's EN voice acting, I have a soft spot for it. The execution can come off weird half the time (good vibrations anyone?) but the voices feel suitable for the most part imo, its also nice that they kept the JP battlegrunts instead of them recording their own which wouldn't have been good most likely.

    Yeah that's my dilemma too, ideally I want to get one physical copy of all the games I care about, and this gen that was going to be on XSX and Switch 2. But costs are making me think I'll be skipping this gen and focusing in indie/smaller games on steam/GoG, but physical for PC is non-existent these days. Makes me wish, wherever possible, that new games would still release physically on older platforms too.

    The other issue is, while I still can't afford a new console, I might have a window to still get an XSX the cheapest I'm gonna be able to get one, probably ever, like you said FoN. I'm gonna need one for the inevitable DOA7, if not NG4. Even if I settle for digital on PC, then I'm gonna need a new PC. And the gaming market is even worse for anyone not wanting to support US and Chinese products these days.

    slowly getting back in SC6 and honestly, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy Talim, still bothered by the fact that she's 13yrs old while rocking a bikini and short shorts, but that's what outfit customization is for, a full shirt and pants for you young lady

    all that hooting and hollering about Nintendo being greedy and anti-comsumer with the Switch 2, and yet the pre-orders sold out within hours :/ not surprised though, gamers always seen to have infinite income when it comes to video games, piss poor economy be damned lol

    Have to say it again, the people that you hear on social media about stuff like this are a very vocal minority, they represent like, maybe 5% of the customers at best, it's only for more niche stuff that their voices are heard and listened to (like fighting games) and even then not in every instance.

    If only 20% of the install base of the switch was interested in the switch 2, it would still sell out. It doesn't take much to outpace the production line on launch. The real test comes down the road but since its a straight upgrade they should be pretty safe.

    peep this, I just came back from hanging out at a local sportsbar, and on the big screen where they normally show sports, they were straight up showing anime, at from 11pm to 12pm at a freaking sport bar, shit was surreal

    the anime they were showing was "I fell in love with an Okinawa girl", it's quite hilarious I highly recommend if you like comfy rom coms but yeah, it was such a bizzare moment that had me going "dam, the world sure has changed"

    Reminds me of that one time the gym that I went to decided to play power and heavy metal songs instead of the usual boots and cats type of "songs".....eh, calling them background noises is more fitting imo. Sometimes unusual stuff can happen even in places you would not expect them to happen, especially if you know what's going on daily there.

    so, Marvel Rivals is going to implement a color editor for skins....that will run you $6 every time you want to change color pallets, this almost makes the DOA6 hair fiasco look reasonable

    Its more like Marvel Rivals has just an alternative skin rather than a color edit, the only way to solve that problem is by Me buying the extra color which I got Psylock's Classic Outfit (which can switch colors), along side Emma's X-Revolution Skin & Battle Pass.

    Speaking of DOA6, I'm going to say this... Marvel Rivals is a better experience than DOA6 based on the fact that Marvel Rivals has attractive skins like X-Revolution & Malice Skin which is big for China standards, & DOA6 was too busy removing attractive skins from DOA5.

    selling alternates is even worse, at least with an editor you can flex your creativity for a price, with alternates it's just "here's a red and black variant of a skin you own, pay up nerd"

    oh well, be it an editor or just a bunch of recolors, $6 a pop is still ridiculous, they shan't receive a single penny from me

    I don't miss SF5 by any means, but I do miss Kolin, she was such an interesting and unique character, and the fact that she'll forever be a one off that will never return is saddening

    Hot take (maybe), I much preferred her og story mode model over her finalized playable one, the fact that her eyebrows blend in with her skin tone and her irises are dam near ethereal in their blueness has always bothered me, whereas her original model has more defined eyebrows and the color of her irises actually make her look human

    I knew the recent T8 update was bad, but I didn't know it was "I used heat gauge now i have access to +20 tracking mids on block" levels of bad, guess the rage was justified

    Its also that the characters outside of the homing mids got tools that were annoying to deal with or got extensions to tools that they didn't really need. I'm at a relatively mid level with Tekken now but seeing the amount of new stuff people had to deal with in ranked was something else. Also, pretty much every character was able to do 90 dmg combos WITHOUT WALL.

    Also, not to mention actual bugs that happened with iirc Jack, Paul and especially Anna, to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if the devs either didn't have enough time to test the game or for some reason didn't test the game enough, so yeah, it was justified but the way it went after a while wasn't too justifiable imo.

    Glad I didn't invest too much time into the game lol. Though it is good that the Tekken devs acknowledged they messed up and wanna fix it. But no way in hell should that patch have been rolled out like that. Its like they didn't even bother to play test it.

    So, thoughts on the new DMC netflix show? personally I like it, but I'm not a huge DMC fan so it was practically made for someone like me, but for you more hardcore DMC'ers, whats the verdict?

    So basically this show is to DMC fans what the Tomb raider Netflix series was to TR fans; i.e if you have no skin in the game when it comes to property, you'll probably like the show, but if you're a core fan who's played all the games you may find the new show very irksome, which I certainly did for Netflix TR, but less so for Netflix DMC

    Two friends that I play FF14 with whom never touched DMC in their life, gave the show a shot and gave it a 9/10. Was extremely surprised from the outcome and thought that was too high personally, but then it makes sense if they know literally nothing about it and the action is pretty good-decent.

    Some people including myself, had pretty low expectations of DMC because it's Adi's own version of it (which he himself confirmed that it was HIS DMC of a what if/his take on DMC), so I immediately knew not to take it serious on a severe level lol.

    Team ZeroEscape releasing a new Somnium files game in 2025? hell yes! dunno how I feel about Date and Aiba being the leads again, considering they were supposed to be the old retired protags that made way for the new school protags, but w/e, it's a new Somnium files game and im hype

    Recently replayed the original Catherine game (not Full Body), and holy cow they really try to make Katherine look like she's some unreasonable bitch when in reality she's just a woman with a pregnancy scare who wants her 31-year old man child of a boyfriend to step up for once in his life

    if i recall Full Body does a much better job of portraying her beyond the frumpy girlfriend stereotype but dam, it was quite the experience to go back and see how it all started

    @Yuffie Fullbody has a whole new love interest for Vincent to pursue, it has new endings for everyone, several story changes, and a bunch of new game modes for single player and multiplayer

    I mean, we're all dunking on Nintendo now, but when the PS6 and the NextBox get released and they're both $1000 each, we wont be caught off guard, hell we might even look back at the Switch 2 and be all "y'know a $500 console doesn't sound so bad!"

    PS5 Pro is already $1000+, definitely in Canada at least.

    But yeah, as much as I hate the higher price of Switch 2 (can't get it on launch), I do have to wonder about how everyone was crying for Nintendo to finally boost their power sufficiently. People laughed at me when I suggested Switch 2 might have 4K output. Now it does, but power comes at a cost. No more power complaints, now cost complaints instead, lol.

    Think Nintendo's net structure wasn't always the greatest. I remember HungryBox a while back mentioned that hosting Smash Ult online tournaments was always a hassle with not only wifi but also just flat out random disconnects even with a ethernet adapter that Nintendo never bothered to address with games.

    It was somewhat equivalent to PSN's mid-worse days of netplay (least what I heard). So combine that with FromSoft's net might be a rough recipe for a consistent game.

    Not sure how much Nintendo would improve on that + Duskblood won't be for another year so there's that I guess.

    If they're building this game from ground up and designing it primarily for pvp i'd LIKE to believe that Fromsoft wouldn't use that same old spaghetti netcode they've been rocking since freaking DS1, but anything is possible these days

    Aa for Nintendo fingers crossed that the Switch 2's online infrastructure is more stable than a macaroni tower

    you know what 3D fighter sub genre needs to come back? Boxing games, and im not talking about that realistic sport sim nonsense they shove down our throats, im talking 'bout something arcade-like, unfiltered, and fun, like the Ready 2 Rumble games, i would kill for a modern version

    Yeah the tech demo collection for Switch 2 looks so crappy and you even have to pay to download it. Crazy to think Wii Sports was so much better in showing off the console tech while being fun and was also free with every Wii.

    Switch 2 Sports should have been a no-brainer.

    And Switch 2 comes with an ethernet port, so no excuse for great online matches.
