  • Also, what is going on this week? DOA1(U)-4 backwards compatibility, Warner Bros. Smash, PandaGlobal's partnership with Nintendo, Ultimate and Melee receiving licensed esports support (NA only for now but still, huge news), the only thing that would make this week even wilder would be fighting games like Blazblue or UNI getting rollback out of nowhere.
Granblue Fantasy Versus info coming soon during Granblue Fes., 40 minutes presentation regarding info for both Relink and the fighting game. Wonder if the long silence about Fantasy Versus was because they were working on rollback + season 3, one can hope.
Soulcalibur 4 feels even slower than I remember it being, game's still fun to play though.

Tbh SC4 imo isn't slow, the game doesn't have the mechanics that SC5 and 6 have that make it seem faster and that's how alot of games are, when they're more bare and don't have much combo extensions or mechanics, it seems slow, plus alot of the attacks had more frames compared to 6 so most of the cast is slower frame wise

Cassandra had the best Critical Finish in the entire game for a lot of good reasons.

@KasumiLover For me it's the movement that mainly makes the game feel slow, there's a big difference in movement speed between 4 and 6 or 4 and 2.
What I like about The Messenger is the way progression in the game is handled (among other things), how the game's story goes forward. During the 8-bit segments we have to get from point A to point B where our character is only tasked with one mission, to carry the scroll to the top of the mountain and to prove his worth, which is the way many 8-bit platformers were handled back in the day.

however, when we switch to the 16-bit metroidvania segments, the game becomes a bit more story driven, cutscenes and dialogues become more frequent and you'll need to backtrack to find key items to advance it forward or to interact with characters that you've met before. The best part about it is that the 8-bit platformer part of the game "ends" with a huge backtrack to the first stage of the game.
Well, this is quite the surprise, God of War (new/PS4 one) pre-purchasable on Steam now.

Yup, just looked up this morning that God of War will officially be on PC. Wonder what PS exclusives will come to PC next? Horizon was pretty neat.

It'd be really nice Bloodborne would be coming to PC next and it'd have that sweet, sweet 60 fps gameplay that currently neither the PS4 nor the PS5 were able to achieve that the PC/Steam version most probably could.
Oh boy, the KH community getting worked up about Max sucking at the lvl 1 Crit Sephiroth fight in KH2FM (for content, a.k.a Boss Rage) which doesn't surprise me, they really need to take a chill pill from time to time.

They were angry about Max being angry at the fight but that's the main idea of Boss Rage, little to no preparation in order to challenge some of the hardest content available in most games, mainly fighting games, that he ends up defeating after many tries, for some viewers, this can be entertaining content either because he/she beat that boss many times and has fun watching someone struggle with it

just like he/she did once or just enjoys seeing someone tackling an uphill battle but if someone says something bad about KH, especially KH2 (great ARPG, best in the series, they will be even more protective with it), then almost all hell breaks loose for most of the fans of the series.

However, Max could've stopped with the Sephiroth fight in KH1, the only KH game he likes, instead of forcing himself through a superboss of a game he doesn't like and has very, very rarely played.
Blazblue had another great tournament and especially grand finals at Pinnacle. Ever since Chrono Phantasma had that amazing top 8 at EVO 2014, Blazblue games have very rarely disappointed me (mainly talking about gameplay, I have a few gripes with the story of the games), shame that it is held back by two things right now: 1. No Rollback on any Blazblue game and 2. The Mobile game.

We might see more Blazblue soon, once the GG hype dies down. I just hope the next Blazblue fighter keeps it's identity and the devs stray from watering down the mechanics similar GG:Strive. People love Blazblue not just for it's lore, but also its complex mechanics and flashy combos. BBCF is the one fighter I could play all day. I love me some Amane, Carl, Tsubaki, and Bullet.

Yeah, if BBCF would get rollback I'd be up on that more often. It won't be easy to top the last game in the series, let's hope that they don't want to add mechanics or take out some of the fun stuff like Overdrive in order to appeal to the new players, Blazblue's been a game that has seen its fair share of crazy stuff gameplay/balance-wise and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Apparently the PC version of Melty had quite a few problems/bugs at launch (unsurprisingly) but at the very least they fixed some of them very quickly. Hopefully most/all of the problems with the PC version are going to be fixed by January, I'd like to buy the game on Steam after 2021 ends but so far it would seem that the PS4 version might be the better option for the next couple of months.
Now that I think about it, the story for many games peaked when it (and the game itself pretty much) had dark or very dark vibes, Tekken's story peaked at 3-5, especially with 4 which is the darkest Tekken game out of all, same with Senran Kagura, where Deep Crimson and Shinovi Versus's story is interesting to follow to a certain degree, even with MK, the Deadly Alliance-Armageddon era is the best story-wise imo.

And DOA's story arguably peaked with DOA3.

    Agreed.
At some point between before and after Tekken 6, something really slipped.
A lot of things have slipped.
I could actually write a whole article on problems that came with post-Tekken 6.
Like Jinpachi's retconned on his... transformation issue.
Azazel's appearance being rendered almost completely moot.
Or, anything involving Paul Phoenix and several other character's statuses.
So, Raito (Under Night and Melty composer) dropped an atomic bomb named "we are working on the next instalment of UNI" three days ago on Twitter just like that, day seemed quite peaceful up until he came with the news out of nowhere (also, damn, UNI's going to be 10 years old next year, there's a slight possibility that we might get info about the sequel during the 10 year anniversary).
Oh boy, if the Nvidia Geforce Now leaks are going to end up being mostly true (hell, even if only a fraction of it ends up being true), there's going to be a lot of pissed off people/developers/companies about the stuff that got revealed a couple of hours ago.
I find it quite ironic that people decided that they wouldn't be pulling on Raiden Shogun/Ei's banner because she didn't look too interesting for them when the leaked images appeared (I think even) earlier than the Inazuma update, then we got the "booba sword" trailer and now her banner raked in the most money out of all the banners so far (on CN server but still, I think it did very well on the rest as well).

to be fair they did reset the shop for first time purchase bonuses so ppl were probably more willing to spend money on this banner regardless of community outcry, but I do agree that it's very strange to hear all these complaints about Raiden Shogun and then her banner ends up being the most financially successful one since Genshin's release
    ChaolanLegacy
    ChaolanLegacy
Yeah, true, most people may have found it worth to top-up with the reset happening which may have contributed to her banner becoming this successful+ the fact that Kokomi is not going to be a character that many are going to be pulling on with her being a healer from what I've heard, still, it outperformed the most successful banners up until hers by a decent amount.
The Tales of the Rays collab with Slayers makes me think of how awesome a Slayers game would be if it'd have Berseria's or Arise's gameplay, would buy it very, very quickly after its release for sure.
Think today's the last day that a bunch of fighting games are discounted on Steam and this time GBFVS is discounted as well to 40 euros (the one that includes season pass 1). If some of you are thinking of purchasing the game anytime soon or even in the near future, then it might be a good time to pick it up while this discount is still lasting, who knows when it'll be cheaper again once this is over.
"The fgc on Twitter must be talking about tech for the newest fighters that have rollback and amazing gameplay out there for sure" notices that most of the posts are about Melty characters not having drip and people not liking Strive after Sonic said that he isn't enjoying the game right now "Uhhhh...."
PS3's can be quite bothersome to deal with since they have many issues. My older console keeps turning itself off after turning it on and it does this for like 2-3 hours straight. The new one that I've got from Germany (used ofc but decent quality) either has issues with the HDMI port or ith the HDMI cable itself, as there are white lines that start flickering+the screen freezes out of nowhere.
Even if I don't necessarily play fighting games for their offline content anymore, there are some games that would nicely benefit from them imo. Imagine Tekken 7 having an "extra treasure battle" mode where you're able to use the boss characters and you can rank them up to TGO. It would add some nice replayability to it, something that it lacks quite a lot.
I wonder if NGMC's success (btw, what was the reception for the collection, because I haven't paid much attention to it, was it positive, negative, were sales ok or better/worse than expected?) or the lack of it is going to be the deciding factor for KT to think or to abandon thoughts about letting TN make a DOA collection.

Ok-ish numbers, not really very impressive. What surprised me are GG Strive's numbers:

    [PS4] Guilty Gear: Strive (Arc System Works, 06/11/21) – 1,852 (13,574) (No PS5 in Top 30...?)

I don't know why I thought that Strive would be a bit more popular than that...

Especially interesting considering that ArcSys just celebrated (on Twitter) that they've sold 500K units of Strive worldwide. Now I'm even more curious about the Steam vs PS4/5 sales for it.
