Dead or Alive 6 has been playable at several events, but for the first time will be available to the world through an online beta test! The beta begins January 11th at 8am PDT and ends January 14th at 7:59am PDT. Before enjoying this beta you will want to read up on additional information and user requirements provided for you here at FSD.

To participate you will need a PlayStation 4 with a PlayStation Plus subscription. If you are without Plus, check to see if you can apply for a free trial before committing to a paid plan. You are not required to pre-order DOA6 to participate in the test, but it is recommended that you do pre-order before the game releases as you will receive Nyo-Tengu for free.

The only characters planned for the beta are Kasumi, Ayane, Ryu Hayabusa, Hayate and newcomer Diego! The only stage available will be the DOA Colosseum. This is your chance to try the game out for free, scout player behaviors and explore new tech freely without worrying about your...

DOA6 Nyo-Tengu and Phase 4 Revealed

  • 3,075
  • 13

After being teased months ago as extra characters for Dead or Alive 6, Nyo-Tengu and Phase 4 finally have an official trailer from Team NINJA that reveals their designs and some new moves and changes as well.

The trailer begins with Ryu Hayabusa practicing in Miyabi with his trusty Dragon Sword. Nyo stalks Hayabusa, fully aware that he slayed Bankotsubo and challenges him to a fight! Her motives are unclear, but it seems like she looks to avenge Bankotsubo, and is fascinated that Hayabusa can defeat something as powerful as a Tengu.

As soon as the fight starts you see Tengu open up with the classic P+K followed up by her 6T with a brand new throw extension. Hayabusa retaliates with some awesome Ninpo moves that Shimbori has showed us in demonstrations before, and his...

DOA6 Delay.jpg

Team NINJA has announced that Dead or Alive 6 has been delayed from February 15th to March 1st this year. This means that Winter Brawl: 3D Edition has been canceled as DOA6s premier tournament. The time will likely be used to add even more polish to the game, and this delay also presents a better release window for the FGC.

We will keep you posted here at FSD with all new information pertaining to this, and also be sure to follow Team NINJA Studio and the Official Game on Twitter for more updates.

DOA6 Tournament Preview Showcases New Moves

Last weekend there was a casual tournament for Dead or Alive 6 at Couch Warriors Crossup in Melbourne, Australia. This preview was informative, but also our first glimpse of what competitive DOA6 could be like. The DOA6 demo provided runs on the same build shown at DOA Festival, so you will see improvements to the stage design and more Bass gameplay, who has hardly been seen since his reveal.

Considering this was a preview event, the matches were really good for the time these fighters had with DOA6. Some players do not like the Break Blow and Hold mechanics, but these players showed how imperative they are to creating a more seamless experience. When you combine these factors with the improved animation, you have an absolutely stunning game that defines what an e-sport title should be for competitive players and spectators alike.

Competitive player, @Berzerk! has posted...

After several weeks of speculation, Brad Wong and Eliot have finally been revealed in this stunning trailer that also demonstrates the new 'Unforgettable' stage. There are a lot of new elements to Eliot's gameplay that are worth talking about, and this creative new level holds a lot of stages and secrets you may have missed with your first viewing of the reveal. You can peruse Team NINJA's official website for the stage update and new character biographies.

This reveal starts off with Eliot and Brad Wong practicing moves in Miyabi's 'Hidden Garden.' Their relationship feels very competitive in this scene; similar to how it was in DOA5. Long time players might notice that...

Kokoro, Lisa 'La Mariposa' Hamilton and new female character, NiCO, along with three new stages were announced at Team NINJA's 2018 Dead or Alive Festival. The studio released two trailers at the event, both with their own story sequences and gameplay demonstrations. Additionally, Team NINJA has updated their official Japanese website with new character biographies and stages.

The first reveal trailer opens outside of the 'DOA Colosseum' with Kokoro handing over a photograph to Helena of the sisters together with their father Fame Douglas. Kokoro tells Helena that NiCO gave her the old photograph, and Helena says she has no idea who NiCO is and that it wasn't NiCO's place to interfere. Kokoro's life has been shrouded by family secrets, and Helena is...

Team NINJA has confirmed that Christie is coming back to Dead or Alive 6 with their latest reveal trailer! This trailer also discloses some new story material, a new stage and more gameplay from previously revealed characters. As a fun extension to the new trailer, you can check out Team NINJA's updated official website with Christie's biography and a description of the new 'Road Rage' stage.

The trailer starts off with Christie's seductive voice in the background saying, "You've been a bad, bad girl... you aren't supposed to be here. You have to be punished." Christie is quickly introduced, and she's aiming a revolver at someone before being interrupted by Bayman who knocks it away to the ground of what looks to be a new secret M.I.S.T. lab. It would appear that Bayman could be a changed man, and Christie is up...

Tokyo Game Show 2018 (TGS) took place between the dates of September 20th to September 23rd in the Chiba prefecture outside Tokyo, Japan. It was my first time attending the event, and I had the fortune to visit it during the press-exclusive days of the 20th and 21st in addition to the public days that followed. I came to the event with one goal: To play as much Dead or Alive 6 that I could at the Koei-Tecmo booth. I had previously had the chance to try an earlier demo during the Evolution 2018 (Evo) championships event this past summer, and was looking forward to seeing what had been updated.

I focused primarily on the new character to the series, Diego, at the Evo event since my preferred character (Bass) was not available. I had heard murmurs from the other players that they found Diego to be too strong in such an early build, and wanted to see how he might have been changed. While...

DOA6 Bass, Tina, Mila Reveal Trailer

  • 10,653
  • 53

Team NINJA have revealed most of the wrestling characters in their latest Dead or Alive 6 trailer. This reveal not only shows us gameplay, but also gives us a good idea of what "Team Muscle" is up to now. Bass, Tina, Mila and a new wrestling ring stage have been added to Team NINJA's Official DOA6 website.

Tina and Bass open this video promoting their new wrestling team or faction called "Team Muscle." Bass seems very pleased with this, but perhaps he doesn't see Tina's intent to use this new team as promotion for her governor campaign? Mila is also back in the ring, and her fighting passion is exactly what Bass looked for in his only daughter.

Bass and Tina have an interesting relationship, and it would be great if the two characters were finally able to find a compromise in DOA6 after years of Tina not giving Bass the credit he deserves, and Bass not being accepting of Tina's life goals...

DOA6 Team NINJA Continues Arcade Support

  • 5,197

Recently, Team Ninja made an announcement that Dead or Alive 6 will be getting an arcade release next year in Japan!

While details are scarce about the release date, it is currently known that the game will be running under SEGA All.Net P-Ras MULTI Version 3 for digital distribution. However, it might be using the current hardware, SEGA Nu. for development.

The Dead or Alive series has a long history with SEGA since its debut back in 1996. The first DOA game was the first and only third-party game to run under SEGA Model 2. DOA1 was ported to the Sega Saturn one year later and like other games that came from Model 2 such as Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers, it relied on bitmap scaling since the Saturn was underpowered. The Saturn version of the first game was later ported to the Xbox as part of DOA Ultimate in 2004.

In 1999, DOA2 was released for the arcades under Sega...

Team NINJA has been busy at TGS promoting Dead or Alive 6 with a fun exhibition, demonstration and public demo. After Tanii was victorious in the special Dead or Alive 6 tournament, Shimbori wrapped up their TGS show announcing the date to the next DOA Festival!

Matt Ponton's visit has granted the community an inside look at it all, and it appears that the Japanese audience is having a blast with DOA6. Air Gear proved that DOA6 can still be a combo heavy game with some wondrous Hitomi play during his appearance at the special tournament. Some excellent Hayabusa gameplay was showcased, and Tanii reminded us how effective Rig can be with a powerful tournament win. Dead or Alive 6 looks to perfect DOA5s excellent system, and the offline players are making that apparent already.

Team NINJA has succeeded with TGS in developing more public interest for our favorite fighting franchise. They will keep the hype train rolling come this November with...

Team NINJA is off to a good start with their TGS presentations! Day 1 introduced new players to DOA6 with an overview of everything currently announced, and the second day was an opportunity for Japanese players to discover and share DOA6 for the first time. @Matt Ponton is updating us live in Japan from the FSD Twitter with gameplay bits and move-lists, so be sure to follow us for the latest news.

Day 3 has concluded for the Koei Tecmo live TGS stream. Shimbori cosplays a stunning Bayman and conducted a very entertaining DOA6 Exhibition with other fighters on the show floor. We didn't see a whole lot of new stuff at the exhibition, but tomorrow you can enjoy a DOA6 tournament with a special trailer to conclude Team NINJA's TGS. If you want to share anything you've found at TGS please do so in the forum!

DOA6 TGS Day 1 - Team NINJA Demonstration

Yohei Shimbori, Director of Dead or Alive 6, was on stage for 45 minutes to show off an updated version of DOA6 to launch Team NINJA's TGS Schedule.

We enjoyed some hands on gameplay of the new characters announced in the release date trailer. Ayane, Marie Rose, Honoka and Bayman have all been shown, and their entries have been added to the official Dead or Alive 6 website. The website is a good compilation of what Team NINJA has announced so far and offers hints and clues to the direction of the game from story mode, character biographies and features.

The demonstration confirmed that the Lost Paradise stage is indeed the DOAX2 version of Zack Island, now inhabited by dinosaurs. As mentioned in our reveal story...

DOA6 Release Trailer + Purchase Options

Before TGS begins, Team NINJA decides to keep the hype train rolling steadily on the tracks with a 2/15/2019 release date, new character reveals, a new stage and pre-order selections that also reveal characters coming to Dead or Alive 6. The release date trailer also gives us an idea of what they intend to do with the story, and that it will be a prominent feature of the final product. According to the Tokyo Game Show schedule, this is not the special TGS trailer that will be shown during the tournament in Japan.

Story Elements

Team NINJA opens the video with what is speculated to be a heavily guarded MIST operation. Ayane is introduced for the first time in DOA6 infiltrating the area in a beautiful combat suit; likely looking to rescue her half-brother, Hayate, or searching for his whereabouts. Marie Rose is then introduced right after the Team NINJA logo is shown, and in the next scene we see Honoka...

DOA6 Big Team NINJA TGS Announcements

Koei Tecmo released their schedule for TGS, and it looks to be another strong, informative showing from Team NINJA. The annual Tokyo Game Show is happening September 20th-23rd, and Dead or Alive 6 will be a featured game nearly every day of the event. There have been a number of years where TGS has revealed very little to us, but it would seem Team NINJA is more transparent and open with DOA6 than any previous title, and this makes better news leading up to the release.

Yohei Shimbori will open the show on the 20th with a 45-minute overview of Dead or Alive 6. He will show an updated game here and follow up with any community questions that players could have left. Shimbori is definitely in touch with what the fighters like, and this will be an excellent platform to educate us on the progress of DOA6. Anyone that would like more information on gameplay will likely enjoy this stream.

DOA does not have announcements on the 21st, but...
